Quote Of The Day

From George Will:

“Can we have faith in the government? I think we have much more to fear from excessive faith in government than from too little faith in government.”

  1. About half the population doesn’t seem to care about faith, they just want the check. Doesn’t matter to them if we’re losing the last great hope for the world, or if we are on the eve of destruction … just make sure that next government check comes through, for at least enough for beer to get through the weekend.

Maybe we’ve been coddled too long … I barely missed Vietnam, which was the last time we got really bloody (58K) in war. We won and Democrats gave it away. The whole “war on terror” we lost about 5300, with a lot of PTSD. But Iraq somehow seems remote, and at least since Obama has been president, we don’t hear the death toll on every nightly news broadcast.

But it doesn’t seem like faith in government, it is just a numbness of those mesmerized by the boob tube, or caught up in texting. Nobody seems to believe any economic collapse could happen, or real war, or anything less than free internet and Obamaphones.

But George makes a good point … self reliance is out, the nanny state will never let me be cold or hungry.
