What’s That Giant Sucking Sound?

“[Rock Island County finance committee chairman Don Jacobs (D-Dinosaur)] said the county’s general fund reserves have fallen from about $10.5 million in 2007 to close to $3 million now…’I’ve never seen it this bad’…”

  1. You know when I originally read the ongoing replacement of Phil Banaszek saga and I have really considered the need to bang my head against the wall until I was unconscious and as totally clueless as the oafish wizards hiding behind the curtains making these decisions. These decisions can only have been made by buffoons who have suckled at the Governments money teats far too long. Lets consider their wisdom. They want to hire an Administrator which will cost them $145,000 to do the part of the work of an individual whom is getting paid $90,000. Plus they still have to have a board chairman, whose salary they will reduce to around $22,000. So the taxpayers will now be out at least $167,000 annually (which will increase as time speeds by) to pay for the work originally done by an individual paid $90,000. I have to believe all these people involved in the decision making think they are Right Said Fred.

  2. I’m not sure what to think about hiring an administrator, but I think it might save money in the long run since a guy who spent his entire career as a “stationary fireman” at EMCC probably doesn’t have a lot of knowledge about budgets and all that. But then neither do dinosaurs like Don Jacobs who only know grabbing taxpayer $$$$ to shovel to their special interests, friends, family and cronies.

If for no other reason, an administrator would be able to curb the enthusiasm the Democrats have for creating juicy and lucrative contracts with their public employee paymasters. AS it is now, former union officials on the board are in charge of “negotiating” union contracts with other union members.

It’s a Win-Win—for unions. For taxpayers, not so much.

  3. Don “The Dinosaur” Jacobs has been saying it is penny wise and pound foolish.

Republicans love when bureaucrats run the government.

It is much easier for a Money Baron to run one bureaucrat than those pesky elected officials that are elected by the people.

I think one of our very own had it right when they said.

“…that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom, and that government of the bureaucrat, by the bureaucrat for the bureaucrat shall not perish from the earth.”

  4. State Sen. Mike Jacobs and state Rep Mike Smiddy won their debate and disappointing fashion.

Both Anderson and The Woz did not attend as they believe the Chamber of Commerce was too biased forum for them to attend.

This is a terrible mistake by the Republicans and hurt their chances in November..

  5. I thought Mary was full of [bleep] until I saw it at QCOnline.

I don’t care about Anderson, but it really is a major disappointment for me that Woz was a no show. I would like to hear an explanation why they refused to engage in debate, but I’m not gonna hold my breath.

  6. I can understand Anderson. He is so extreme and he has no speaking skills but The Woz is a lawyer if my understanding is correct and he doesn’t have the extreme views that Anderson would have to explain.
