Racist Unions Are Holding The Black Man Down…

or how we dodged socialism in the 20th Century.

In a letter to the editor of the D/A, a self-described 25 year old black man who grew up in Rock Island, makes this complaint:

“I have painted entire houses and done carpentry work, yet I have not been able to enter into an apprenticeship program.”

Gee, I thought Democrats were all for minorities? Ooops! Forgot! Unions have more muscle and money than minorities, which is why unions continue to get a pass for their racist policies.

Sad, really.

But beyond that lament, the letter writer goes on to demand that FDR’s “Second Bill of Rights” be implemented.

You don’t remember? Well, it was way back in 1944 when FDR was trolling for support from a war-weary population.

These “rights” include:

1. Right to good education

2. Right to a job

3. Right to adequate wage and a decent living

4. Right to a decent home

5. Right to medical care

6. Right to protection during sickness, accident, old age or unemployment

7. Right to conduct business free from unfair competition.

I don’t wish death on anyone, but maybe it was a good thing that FDR croaked out in April 1945 and the subsequent booming US economy took care of many of these rights before he was able to implement them.

The letter writer states that any politician who promises these “rights” will get his vote.

Remember: The past is never dead. It’s not even past.
