According to QCOnline Alex Fulton, who was the GOP candidate to run against Pat Verschoore, has dropped out after his petitions were challenged at the ISBE by a big Democrat donor, James Garbett.
For reasons that remain murky (at least to me), the RICO GOP decided not to defend this challenge from Garbett and instead decided to fold up tent stakes and steal off into the night.
Not sure what the lessons are from this except maybe the RICO GOP needs to get more aggressive in recruiting BEFORE the primary so they have somebody on the ballot rather than depending on post primary slating. Also maybe getting some lawyers on board who will fight the Dem Machine. No matter, it is obvious the RICO GOP still has a lot of work to do in order to become a viable political party rather than just a social club.
