Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely

Another day another lawsuit against Rock Island County, this time by “A former Rock Island County employee [who] claims she was fired for refusing to participate in an illegal pension scheme.”

Yes, the hitz just keep on coming at One Party Rule Rock Island County, this time involving the Forest Preserve and the usual players of Ms. Chapman and the County Board Chairman.

I assume this whistleblower lawsuit was filed in the 14th JC and if so, her attorney needs to do some judge shopping, since like all of Illinois, judges are political animals and are subject to political pressures.

No sense having this lawsuit strangled in its crib just because the wrong judge was allowed to handle the case.

  1. Bill Broom taking the County Board is now a slam dunk. Lets just hope Broom doesn’t trip on his way up to throw down the Slamma Jamma

  2. Great news!

    National 6.3%
    Texas 5.2%
    QCs 5.7%

Looks like everyone is doing much better than before. Makes me proud to be an AMERICAN!

  3. IOWA: 4.3
ILLINOIS 7.9—49th out of 50 states.

    Way to go Illinois!!!!

As for the QCs, Iowa QC is included in your figure—please tell us what the rate is for the ILQCs alone.

Too bad there aren’t more GOPers running for County Board this year—or maybe there are just fewer seats up for election.

Either way, the RICO GOP—just like Yasser Arafat, never misses an opportunity to miss an opportunity.

  4. This is the problem with you outsiders Mrs Examiner.

We in the QC are joined by the river not decided by the river.

We don’t hate our neighbors but embrace them.

If people want to shop and get gas in iowa great.

If retired people want to live in Illinois because of their tax breaks on the retired people so be it.

    We are one here.

  5. People in Illinois QC can just cross the bridge and get a job. True we need a better bridge and between Congresswoman Bustos, Senator Jacobs, Rep Verschoore and Rep Smiddy who all deserve a hearty congratulations for their work on bringing the bridge to the best Cities in Iowa.

It is great that we have such a wonderful community with jobs, shopping, resturants, college, entertainment and the mighty Mississippi.

It is no wonder the QC enjoys such a great unemployment rate and high wages.

I am having Jims Ribs tonight.
Life is good in the QC.

  6. Part of the problem determining the problems in the Illinois QC employment is just how many people counted as employed in the Illinois Quad Cities are actually employed in the Iowa side? A great deal. It has been at least twice during my lifetime I have worked on the Iowa side. It is very common for people on both sides of the river to work in the opposite state. That makes the Illinois numbers of 5.7% even more unrealistic.

The thing that queries me the most is where do board members get their figures displaying they average 38 hours a week working on Forest Preserve business. Do they mean they spend 38 hours a week at Steve’s Old Time Tap; guzzling booze, eating snacks and looking for hook-ups?

  7. Well Jetyhro, back in the day, I used to spend an evening or two at Steve’s Old Time Tap, and from experience (although this was decades ago) I can attest that plenty of county business was conducted there—especially public employee union business, which now that I think about it, is one and the same! πŸ˜€

As for Hare’s “I don’t give a hoot about the Constitution” Kwincy Kerfuffle, I doubt Hare wants to relive his Day Of Idiocy when he lost his slam-dunk safe congressional seat. Instead, I believe it is the Shillites who are using this to get fired up, since Bustos is so bland, campaigning against her would be like campaigning against a carton of vanilla yogurt.

  8. Local Republicans slug “liquid courage” at City Limits in Rock Island before heading over to the cast their Board votes. I understand they may have to find a new “water hole” as the place is reportedly closing due to lack of Democrat patrons.

  9. Fascinating! But where and how do the Democrats go to get “courage” before their Board votes—snorting coke in Phil Hare’s basement? πŸ˜€

  10. Hey, hey, hey. The only politican in America that has publicly admitted snorting cocain is George W. Bush. Just saying.

  11. Wrong! Liberal God and current POTUS Barack Obama also admitted publicly—in his book, no less, to snorting cocaine.

Try not to be such a hack.

    Just sayin’.

  12. I am confused Q. It’s okay for you to claim knowledge of “snorting coke in Phil Hare’s basement” but wrong for Julie to refer to Bill Bloom as “RICO Republican Party Boss?”

Ed. Note: It’s the boredom factor. I’m bored with all the Bill Broom/Bloom crap from all sides. Find a new talking point. On the other hand, no one has ever before suggested, which is NOT the same as “knowledge” that Hare’s basement was a RICO Dem Den Of Iniquity. Lighten up Randy Baby. πŸ˜€
