A Tale Of Two Counties

According to WQAD:

************************************

Rock Island County, Illinois:

Population-147,258

County Board members-25

Cost to taxpayers last year-$430,000

************************************

Scott County, Iowa:

Population-170,385

County Board members-5

Cost to taxpayers last year-$270,000

*************************************

In the November 2012 election, RICO voters overwhelming voted to reduce the size of the bloated county board. The Democrat controlled board resisted saying it could not be done until the next census in 2020.

The RICO electorate probably shouldn’t hold its collective breath because:

“Rock Island County Board members are waiting for a decision from the Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan, concerning whether they can downsize their board before the 2020 census.”
