“Be As Glittery And Gay As You Like”

Whiskey’s Place on the gaying of the NFL:

“The NFL has traded an audience that doesn’t matter: media types, women, gays, for one that does: middle aged, middle class White guys. Who I assure you don’t care for gay smooches…The sooner the NFL dies, the better. If religion was the opiate of the masses, back in the 19th Century, professional and college sports play that role today…Be as glittery and gay as you like. You’ll get the audience for (non-Olympic) Men’s Gay Ice Skating, Bored White women, gays and nothing else. About 300,000 viewers or so. Enjoy your ads from Sequin House, Nair, and Real Housewives of Anchorage NFL! I’ll be watching racing.”

  1. Between Republican Party Boss Bill Bloom, Pastor Johnson and QCE they have finally hit the trifecta.

Alienate the African Americans, Hispanics and now the gays in he last three weeks.

Congratulations to the Rock Island GOP for handing Schilling, Anderson and the Woz to an early political grave.

  2. I don’t think I buy Whiskey’s idea that gay smooches will cause the NFL to collapse, in fact at least some are making $$$$ off Michael Sam because his jersey is outselling the NFL’s #1 draft pick—although not Johnny Manziel’s.

    Capitalism, baby!

This reminds me of a conversation I had with a fairly conservative lawyer years ago when gay marriage was first being discussed in Illinois. I was surprised when he mentioned he was pro-gay marriage and when I asked him to explain, he said it was good for business. More marriages, more divorces; more child custody battles, more fights over pensions, etc.
