How To Talk To A Woman…

if you must.

The RNCC is “meeting with top aides of sitting Republicans to teach them what to say—or not to say—on the trail, especially when their boss is running against a woman.”

In an effort to avoid another Akin “legitimate rape” disaster, which allowed the Democrats and their allies in the press to paint the entire GOP as women-haters, the RNCC is offering tutoring in the fine art of not offending 50% of the population.

I’m all for sensitivity training, but ultimately I doubt it will do much good. The Democrats know they can’t win by talking about jobs and the economy, so Culture War issues are all they have and they will pound them whether there is any there, there of not. It’s what they do, it’s who they are.

In my view, Bobby Schilling is particularly vulnerable to this War On Women shtick. I don’t know if it came up in the ’12 election with Bustos or not, but I’m certain it will be a factor in ’14 if the race is as close as some polls suggest.

  1. Maybe it won’t make any difference if Republicans shriek about legitimate rape or not because polling shows that Obamacare is costing Democrats the white women vote.

Add to that the millennials and Hispanics who are also rejecting Obama and his Care and things may be looking up for the GOP—for a change.

    If they don’t blow it.

    Always a big “if”.

  2. Its more than just comments about legitimate rape etc that are problems for Republicans, its their actual policies. The 2012 Republican platform had no room in it for abortion in cases of rape or incest, and that’s the exact position that Akin and Mourdock were defending. Plus, women are disproportionately stuck in jobs that pay the minimum wage and Republicans are dead-set against any raises in the minimum wage. Also, Republicans have also blocked bills that prevent discrimination against pregnant women in the workplace. Its more than a few comments, its policies that hurt ladies – even if unintentional.

  3. Maybe, but that was then, this is now.

I have a feeling that Obamacare is going to be a major game-changer for the Democrats—and not in a good way.

  4. 50.8% women …

Akin got in cuz Dem’s supported him in a three way ..
race I mean. He was the weak candidate .. oh, and I hate Huckabee, who supported him, only cuz the Huckster wants to build his brand. Otherwise he would have told Akin the goof to get out after his stupid statements. (I’m trying to get over my shyness about expressing my opinion 🙂 )

Indeed the left knows how to destroy female candidates when they want to … observe Hillary even. Conservative women like Palin is would be a different case study. Democrats worship misogynists like B Kennedy and Clinton (he’s a pig but he’s our pig, said NOW prez’) … yet claim to represent women.

So some training may be in order … but a general wave of change may be coming. If we had to have a woman on the ticket … I’m thinkin’ Walker with Susana Martinez maybe. Cruz could be good … but not Cruz Martinez … or maybe, I don’t know. I love Palin, but too used and abused … she has her own mission. Cruz and … do Republicans need to stick to “minorities”? Cruz Giuliani … leading a forensic investigation into the financial fraud debacle … that could be good. Or Kimberly Guilfoyle … she’s hot, and was a successful prosecutor. That’s the ticket … lotsa people need to go to prison … only way to clean it up. 🙂

  5. Well yes, the Akin thing was more complex than “legitimate rape”, but still—a Cruz/Guilfoyle ticket would be Knock Me Out On Steroids! Waaaaay too much pretty for the LIV. Ya gotta have some ugly in politics like Hillary and Lizzie Warren.

And yes, I’ve always valued your calm, gentle reasoned arguments here at QCE. MR. 😀
