November 26, 1913:

“Articles of association for the new Taxpayers Protection League were filed at the [Rock Island County] courthouse for record. Harry M. McCaskin reported the league’s membership has reached 1,700.”

It’s worth noting that the 16th Amendment, which allowed the Congress to “lay and collect taxes on incomes” was ratified in February 1913, but already by November the agitation had begun—and has never stopped.
