The Hand That Rocks The Cradle Rules The World…

…or at least the Illinois 72nd District.

Pat Verschoore refused to vote for civil unions in 2011, evidently considering them too radical for his district. But yesterday he decided to go all out and vote for same sex marriage.

Some may ask why, but Springfield establishment mouthpiece Rich Miller says that “Rep. Verschoore’s spouse…was instrumental in convincing him to vote for [same sex marriage.]”

Verschoore has a history of being led by his wife; back in 2011 he voted to repeal the death penalty because “my wife was on me to vote for it.”

This being Rock Island County, Verschoore will probably “retire” before the end of his term and get his wife appointed to replace him because after all, since she’s the ideological brains in the family.

  1. another example of a woman behind a successful political man. probably because many of us guys need someone pushing us to commit to anything. many of us males are born noncommittal. Others only commitment is only aligned with money and/or sex. Sad but true about the species.

    you got mail.

  2. There is something to that. Both Elizabeth Edwards and Hillary Clinton had the potential to forge their own political careers, yet both these liberal women chose to go the Evita route.

Both Bill Clinton and John Edwards were good ol’ laid back Southern boys—but their women had something else in mind. 😀

  3. By now I should know better, but I continue to be astounded by how politicians can so openly and often lie to their constituents, yet continue to get re-elected.

I know all the intellectual/practical arguments i.e. gerrymandering, power of incumbency, etc. but I’m still amazed every time these liars face no consequences for their deceptions.

Of course, it certainly doesn’t hurt to have the local press refuse to fact check or draw attention to the hypocrisy of the powerful poobahs of the politburo. The local press thinks that is the “opposition’s” job and considering what a joke the RICO GOP is, that is exactly the same as doing nothing. And if the GOP would happen to fire up, well the Dems and their press allies can always say “it’s just a political attack”.

    The classic double bind.

But even so, this is bipartisan; Democrats swear they won’t raise taxes—until they do; GOPers swear they will vote to defund Obamacare—until they don’t.
