Mean Girl For 17th CD!

Those two years Bobby Schilling spent in DC must have really messed with his mind because the kinder, gentler servant’s heart Schilling has been replaced with the unhinged frothing Heart of Chris Matthews.

In a statement after the vote to defund Obamacare but to continue to fund the government in which Dem Rep. Cheri Bustos (D-Durbin) voted lockstep with her party, Bobby Schilling wasn’t having any of that statesman-like b.s.—oh, no. He was all about “…a reckless and irresponsible vote by Rep. Bustos…eager to put this nation’s economic security at risk in order to make a political point to her wealthy liberal friends in Washington…Rep. Bustos has a troubling history of wanting to shut down the government…” etc. etc.

I’m no Bustos fan and I realize there’s a campaign going on, but would it have really hurt Schilling to take the high road and congratulate his GOP buddies in the House and say he was eager to rejoin them to help implement the rest of the Defund-Repeal-Replace plan and BTW Bustos really wasn’t helping by her vote to defund the entire government in order to save Obamacare, etc.

It’s only September but Schilling is going nuclear at every opportunity. Where will he be and what will be left in his arsenal if his nuclear capability is depleted before October ’14?

A little less bombast please, and a lot more thoughtfulness.

  1. This is not a surprise or new information. He uses the same kind of tactics in his own party. They will take anyone out that gets in their way. Rumor has it that is why Mortland’s group left.

  2. Well I dunno ricogop, maybe Schilling is doing the right thing with attack! attack! attack! but it seems shrill to me—also, he reminds me of Barack Obama who never seems to pass up a chance to bash the GOP or any other entity he feels might not be marching lockstep with him and/or his ideology.

While doing some reading trying to catch up on what I’d missed the last two years about Schilling (and other IL stuff) I was surprised to see in Roll Call that the Schillings have a national reputation for nastiness.

    Not good.

  3. Kurt that rumor is known to be fact in RICO. Look at the party leadership in that area. Morthland’s wife lost to Mike Steffen for party chair. Bobbys son was a key player in arranging that deal. Everything is personal to the Schillings.

    Reyes better watch out!

  4. It’s pretty why Schilling is so influential in RICO. People like him and can’t stand the Morthland clan. Doesn’t take a rocket scientist. Duh

  5. Morthland’s group left because of these things:

Schillings hired Anderson to defeat Wallace in a Republican primary (because Bobby has power and anxiety issues), and Wallace was a staffer for both Morthland’s campaign and office (as far as I’m aware).

Schillings are invested in beating Jim Wozniak in the 72nd District with their candidate Jeff McKinley because Wozniak was an ally of Morthlands during the 2012 cycle. The evidence for that is the fact that Goveia and Schweppe (both major Schilling pawns) are running McKinley’s campaign.

Bobby made PERSONAL phone calls to PCs telling them that Mrs. Morthland is identical to Bustos, thus giving Steffen the victory for Committee Chair.

The irony is that Morthland began the rebirth of this party, becoming the only elected Republican elected official in forever on the county level and up. The sad thing is that Bobby’s people began in 2012 ushering in the era of the end.

    YES, Reyes better watch out…

  6. Vances comment is amusing. Bobby is so influential that RICO voted to keep him as our congressman. Oh wait. He lost RICO. Its time for a new guy! GO REYES!

  7. Fwiw…

The only local people who dislike Bobby or Terry are people with direct ties to Morthland, who have fallen trap to an interparty squabble.

Anyone who says otherwise is playing you for something, without question.

And no. Bobby doesn’t have anything to do with McKinley and actually prefers Wozniak. He just doesn’t believe in telling staffers that they can’t work or help a friend of theirs.

Bobby did support Neil over Wallace but that’s because Wallace did several underhanded things to hurt the Schilling campaign and was caught in the act. Further, Wallace was an empty shell of a candidate. The “prodigy” of the party managed to get less than 27% of the vote against Neil when Neil was brand new to politics entirely. That’s probably why Bobby supported Neil.

In regard to Betsy running, she ran against Steffen, who had been preparing for the position and working with Susie for 2 years to take over as chairman. And Bobby didn’t tell people that Betsy was a Bustos clone, but that she would have a conflict of interest as chairman with her husband as a candidate. I don’t see the issue with this claim.

QCE, you should actually try contacting these people you speak poorly of, to get there side of the story.

Wallace, Morthland, Janderson, and Levy are a very small faction of the RICOGOP, and are clearly trying to rewrite history.

  8. Phil hare fan (Interesting name. When did you change sides?)

No one said anything about disliking Bobby or Terry. We are talking about their reputation for nastiness. I’ve been in the party since before Morthland, Wallace, or Schilling(you) came along.

“He just doesn’t believe in telling staffers that they can’t work or help a friend of theirs.” Only publicly right?

What kind of underhanded things did Wallace do to hurt Schilling?

“The “prodigy” of the party managed to get less than 27% of the vote against Neil when Neil was brand new to politics entirely. That’s probably why Bobby supported Neil.”

Maybe he is a bad candidate or maybe Neil was endorsed before the primary. Political tricks only fool the “non-aware” public. It was Schillings that found Neil to run against Wallace.

I asked Wallace for details regarding the bad politics because I witnessed Bobbys wife Christie yelling at Wallace at a Romney event. Wallace wouldn’t reveal anything.

“Steffen, who had been preparing for the position and working with Susie for 2 years to take over as chairman.”
As for the Betsey and Steffen event, I like Steffen. He has always been nice to me but your statement is a lie.

Wallace, Janderson, Levy are young. Morthland is gone. You underestimate the amount of people that are fed up with the Schillings bad politics.

  9. I’m with Paula—what “underhanded things” did Wallace do to the Schilling campaign? Come on Phf, we gotta know!

And Mrs. Schilling was “yelling” at Wallace (a guy young enough to be her son) at a public event? Ye gods! Two Mean Girls in the Schilling family! 🙂

  10. Yeah Christine Schilling….the lady that I see at daily mass, who prays the rosary, and has raised 10 rambunctious kids, was yelling at JWall…the founder and only member of “Republicans for Bustos”

I’ve known her since she was 7 years old. She’d never do that. This is clearly JWall trying to smear a good lady’s name.

I also witnessed that event and it was Terry, not Christine. And it was because Wallace had told a group of people that he was going to “take Bobby down” and form Republicans for Bustos.

Lastly, if you ever see Christine Schilling yelling at someone, they probably deserve it.

QCE should pick up the phone if she wants to see the other side of the pancake.

  11. Why are people shocked Betsey Morthland didn’t win chair? She literally did no leg work. Mike Steffen called EVERYONE and asked for their support. Betsey was out of the country until the day before the election.

It’s just like people whining about Wallace losing. Anderson did the work. Wallace did not. Wallace lost.

Sometimes the obvious answer is the right one. This thread is worse than the 9/11 truth movement.

  12. Phil (or do you prefer Terry Schilling)you still have yet to answer the question. What kind of underhanded things did Wallace do to hurt Schilling? Also, why attack Morthland?

and how does that explain how “JWall” goes from being a Schilling fan/friend to worst enemy?

“Yeah Christine Schilling….the lady that I see at daily mass, who prays the rosary, and has raised 10 rambunctious kids, was yelling at JWall”

It is disappointing that you still lie even though Susie and others witnessed the nasty politics. Yes Im talking about the daily mass going lady that filed for divorce in 1993.

According to – http://hoh.rollcall.com/the-schillings-cant-help-but-bust-on-bustos/ – you guys are the ones with the national reputation for being a “grudge-holding home team behind one-term GOP lawmaker Bobby Schilling”

Reyes is continuing to sound better and better

  13. I realize I’m mostly out of the loop on this but I am mystified by the in-your-face attitude of the Schilling camp. Considering the recent gerrymander and his recent loss to Bustos, I would think the Schillings would do everything they could to smooth things over within the RICOGOP at least until after the election.

    But no.

    I just don’t get it.

    Seriously.

As you can imagine, I’m extremely reluctant to give my phone # to Schilling, but I am interested in getting their side of the story via email.

  14. “Why are people shocked Betsey Morthland didn’t win chair? She literally did no leg work. Mike Steffen called EVERYONE and asked for their support.”

Not true. Schilling called precinct committee people to trash talk Betsey.

“It’s just like people whining about Wallace losing. Anderson did the work. Wallace did not. Wallace lost.”

Again, Neil was endorsed before the primary. It was Schillings that found Neil to run against Wallace. Backdoor deals were made with other campaigns at the time like Albrecht. (proof of this exists)

“Sometimes the obvious answer is the right one.”

How about giving us an answer instead of trying to discredit the thread. Typical political move.

  15. Yeah S, that’s exactly why I don’t get the open hostility the Schillings have toward members of their own party. Even if the Morthland group is small, Schilling will need every vote he can muster to defeat Bustos.

I know I don’t have all the details, but even so, it just seems incomprehensible to me.

  16. NOTE TO READERS: If you don’t like what I do and/or say, don’t come here; and whatever you do don’t think you are so special that you can come to my house, insult me and get away with it with no consequences.

    It ain’t gonna happen.

But I have to admit it is amusing for me to be sending Schilling supporters to Spam Hell rather than Hare fans.
    😀

  17. I am disappointed to hear and read all of this. Reyes plans to run an ISSUE-based campaign, and I’m excited to see that the QCE has already touched a few of those. I look forward to seeing more issue-centered posts in the future. QCE, I appreciate how investigative you are about both campaigns, and the information you provide here. Keep up the good work.

  18. Thanks for the encouraging words Abe. I’m looking forward to more issues-based posts too, but will have to wait for Bobby to decide where he stands on some things and create an “Issues” link on website and wait for Bustos to stop lying about what she has voted for.

All this could take a while. 😀
