A Mighty Fortress Is Our God

It never ceases to amaze me how ignorant, bigoted and partisan the establishment press is.

Here’s the latest salvo against religion and Michele Bachmann by leftwing Joshua Green at The Atlantic:

“…the conservative Lutheran church [Michele Bachmann] belonged to for many years….[asserts] that the Roman Catholic Pope is the Antichrist.”

Really? Aside from the fact that the Bachmanns left the church years ago for a non-demoninational church, who, besides an ignorant bigoted liberal, hasn’t heard of the Reformation? Hey, Josh, ever hear of “Protestants”? Ever wonder what they were protesting?

For the curiously uncurious like Green, the 16th century is just like yesterday—especially if there is a political agenda to advance. Notice the contrast between Bachmann’s Lutheranism and Obama’s unhinged, wacko, bigoted, racist, anti-American preacher Jeremiah “God DAMN America” Wright. Wrights unhinged rantings were swept under the rug until the stench became so great even Obama couldn’t ignore him and was forced to leave Wright’s congregation. Bachmann has been gone for years.

As I’ve mentioned in the past, I’m a lapsed Lutheran. I don’t say that with any pride, it’s just a fact. Bachmann’s Wisconin synod is evangelical, mine was the conservative LCMS, but even as a conservative Lutheran, confirmed in the church, I never had any problem with my Catholic neighbors, my Catholic schoolmates, my Catholic friends or my Catholic aunts, uncles and cousins.

Only in Leftwingerland could the battles of the 16th century, settled by decades of war, be played out in politics today. It’s unfortunate that Bachmann chose to punt to the media by denouncing her former church as “bigoted”. She could have done a public service by reminding the hateful partisan press and the public at large what the Reformation was all about.

  1. Wright’s church (Obama’s too) put out a church magazine praising Farrakahn for epitomizing greatness, just a year before the election. http://fwd4.me/06oR

Of course his GD America rants were enough, along with the racist black theology that Obama was immersed in. Even Oprah had good enough sense to leave that church. But even with the most ludicrous lies, big media sycophants never found a flaw in Barry’s church choice. (as you said)

I like Bachmann, but they are certainly gunning for her. We may end up stuck with Romney … maybe he’ll pick Bachmann as VP? That might get him so Tea party enthusiasm, like McCain got from Palin. Or maybe he’d need a foreign policy guru … Bolton is good, but maybe too much of a firebrand for Romney. Or maybe Perry will still jump in.

I don’t know, but big media seems focused on destroying any Tea party types, and they’re still all in for their boyfriend Obama.

  2. I like Bachmann and want her to do well, but the deck is stacked against her. The establishment press hates women running for POTUS whether they be liberals or Tea Party types. They certainly had no problem savaging the Clintons—especially HIllary, in service to their Dark Lord Obama. If we’re talking about conservative women, no idiocy is too mundane or miniscule to blow up out of proportion and beat to death over the life of multiple news cycles. The liberal press is now going after her husband implying he’s gay—or something. Sheesh!

But even so, she is not handling this Democrat/press smear campaign very well. As I mentioned in my post, rather than denounce her former Lutheran church as “bigoted”, it would have been a golden opportunity to give a little history lesson and explain that in the 21st century Lutherans and Catholics can and do co-exist with very little hard feelings left over from the 30 Years War.

These press people are so obviously biased and ignorant, an intelligent person could get the upper hand by exposing their stupidity—rather than cave in to it.

I still don’t know about the GOP POTUS thing—I’m hoping it’s still too early and some better candidate will enter—for now, my hope is on Perry, but who knows what kind of mood I’ll be in on primary day.
