“We don’t need new taxes. We need new taxpayers, people that are gainfully employed making money and paying into the tax system…You look at all these taxes being proposed [by Democrats]…I want to know which one of these taxes they are proposing will create jobs. I want to know how many jobs are going to be created by the plane tax. How many jobs are going to be created by the oil company tax I heard so much about? How many jobs are created by going after the millionaires and billionaires the president talks about? I want to know: How many jobs do they create?”
Politicians of both parties have used the tax code to punish their enemies and reward their friends. If the Democrats were really serious about raising revenue, they would tax the entertainment industry and union dues—but they aren’t so they won’t.
All this Democrat tax pushing political theatre seems to be aimed at forcing the GOP into another George H.W. Bush “read my lips, no new taxes” corner, which they will be forced to renounce. Rubio pushes back demanding how all these new Democrat “revenue enhancers” will solve the #1 problem in our country today—unemployment, which now stands at 9.2 percent.
