“Cost saving from worker contributions to health care and retirement, taking effect [June 29] as part of the new collective bargaining laws, will swing the Kaukauna School District from a $400,000 budget deficit to an estimated $1.5 million surplus…The district…plans to hire more teachers and reduce class sizes.”
The newly downtrodden teachers will have to pay a whopping 12.6% of health care and 5.8% to pensions. Poor babies!
The over-the-top rhetoric against Scott Walker coming from unions and their Democrat and press allies proved to be—over-the-top rhetoric.
While Illinois is prancing and preening over “reform” making it a little more difficult for teachers to strike, Wisconsin Republicans have done the hard work of protecting its taxpayers and its students from the pernicious influence of Big Labor.
We should be so lucky.
