The Gov Is My Shepherd, I Shall Not Want

Upon signing into law a bill that requires everyone in a vehicle to wear a seatbelt, Three County Quinn justified—-and pontificated that the bill “follows the biblical principle that if you save one life, you save the world.”

Pat Quinn: The Governor of the State Of Delusional Grandeur!

Can you imagine the outcry from Democrats and the left if a GOP governor would have spouted this twaddle? There would be shrieks and howls of establishing a theocracy and a Christianist takeover of state government from one end of Illinois to the other.

“Double standards” and “hypocrisy” doesn’t even begin to cover this bizarre disconnect.

  1. Insurance companies can tell you the worth of a life … so figuring Democrats have tied an anchor of debt around the neck of Illinois citizens … call it $80 billion of dead weight … how many lives will be lost from joblessness and the poverty that drag many under? Remove the beam from your own eye, before trying to remove the cash from the pockets of those in the back seat.

Quinn isn’t saving a soul, he’s putting more burden on them … more revenue for the state for those that down bend their knee to the “greater powers”. This is not the mighty Quinn, this is the small minded Quinn. That song needs new lyrics to fit our governor. He probably figures the revenue from the back seatbeltless will fund the raises for his cronies. These potato heads are always calculating how to squeeze blood out of us poor turnips. 🙂

  2. … that “don’t” bend their knee that should be … not sure how my brain works when I type different words like that … they say a different part of your brain is carrying out those “menial” functions while the creative part is at work on the next sentence … that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it 🙂

  3. Bible quiz: Where does the Bible say that if you save a life you save the world? Answer: No where.

  4. Good point … it mentions it is right that one man GAVE his life to save MANY, but that was mostly talking about Jesus. But Democrats are lax about actual quotes. If saving a life saves the world, I guess we’re all saved now, but not saved from Quinn and Illinois insolvency.

It does seem that wearing a seat belt, even in the back seat, reduces risk of death by some 50%. Since I’m in the same insurance pool, I’d just as soon others be required to wear them. And for a welfare/nanny state, it makes some sense, since crippled non-wearers must be well cared for in perpetuity by the taxpayer, probably at union rates. But it certainly is a revenue game for the state. A couple hunters here last year got tagged for $50 each, as they were pulling out of some parking lot, just for not having belts on (no other violation), as I recall.
