According to the Illinois Comptroller, our wonderul State O’ Illinois could be facing a backlog of bills approaching $8 BILLION by the end of the fiscal year.
I know you’re wondering what the hell happened to all that moolah the Democrats take out of our checks every time—you know, the 67% income tax increase they rammed through in the last hours of the lame duck session.
Judy Baar Topinka has the answer:
“Topinka said the tax hike money, close to $7 billion, is being spent on state pensions and Medicaid costs. But she said she understands why voters may have thought the income tax increase was going to get Illinois back in the black. ‘How can you not assume the single biggest tax increase to hit this state…you would think it would go to paying off back bills and getting us intact’.”
But no, all that new $$$$ goes to two very narrow constituencies—Big Labor and “the most vulnerable among us’.
Everyone else who has been standing in the State O’ Illinois welfare line is invited to kiss the Democrats’ collective keester. Because as our specially bred Senator Mike Jacobs said:
‘You don’t always get your way.”
