Scoffing at the notion that the 25% increase in Moline home burglaries is caused by “the bad economy”, Detective Mike Griffin described the true cause:
“. . . the people we deal with don’t appear to be out there looking for jobs during a good economy or bad . . . Their job is stealing . . . It is easier to break into someone’s house and steal an X-Box than it is to work a 40-hour week and wait until Friday to get a paycheck to go and get your fix”.
After decades of inane PC twaddle about how a bad childhood, poverty, the economy, etc. are the cause of crime, it is truly refreshing to hear someone in authority and in the know smack that down with some serious truth-telling.
