Exhibit A: Carla Bruni-Sarkozy: “I no longer feel left wing.’
Exhibit B: “I’m Barbara Bush and I’m a New Yorker for marriage equality . . . And everyone should have the right to marry the person that they love.”
Since I don’t follow European politics, I don’t know what to say about Bruni-Sarkozy except that as we get older, we get wiser.
As for Barbara Bush [this is GWB’s daughter, not his mother], this isn’t really that shocking, no matter what the liberal press wants you to believe. She is 29 years old and being pro-gay marriage fits in with her demographic. GWB was never anti-gay and it’s important to remember that Obama doesn’t support gay marriage either and that DOMA was made law by a Democrat controlled congress and a Democrat POTUS.
But Ms. Bush is showing her immaturity with her “everyone should have the right to marry the person that they love”. There might be a case to be made for gay marriage, but that ain’t it.
What if you love more than one person?
What if you’re a man who REALLY loves his daughter?
What if you’re a man who REALLY loves his sister?
See what I mean?
I don’t have an opinion about gay marriage except for that fact that it is inevitable—but don’t try to convince me it’s right by saying “everyone should have the right to marry the person they love”—you’ve got to do better.
