It’s A Mixed Up, Muddled Up, Shook Up World

Exhibit A: Carla Bruni-Sarkozy: “I no longer feel left wing.’

Exhibit B: “I’m Barbara Bush and I’m a New Yorker for marriage equality . . . And everyone should have the right to marry the person that they love.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Since I don’t follow European politics, I don’t know what to say about Bruni-Sarkozy except that as we get older, we get wiser.
As for Barbara Bush [this is GWB’s daughter, not his mother], this isn’t really that shocking, no matter what the liberal press wants you to believe. She is 29 years old and being pro-gay marriage fits in with her demographic. GWB was never anti-gay and it’s important to remember that Obama doesn’t support gay marriage either and that DOMA was made law by a Democrat controlled congress and a Democrat POTUS.
But Ms. Bush is showing her immaturity with her “everyone should have the right to marry the person that they love”. There might be a case to be made for gay marriage, but that ain’t it.
What if you love more than one person?
What if you’re a man who REALLY loves his daughter?
What if you’re a man who REALLY loves his sister?
All okey-dokey?
See what I mean?
I don’t have an opinion about gay marriage except for that fact that it is inevitable—but don’t try to convince me it’s right by saying “everyone should have the right to marry the person they love”—you’ve got to do better.
  1. They say Christians need to show how they are harmed by having gay marriage.
    I guess if they were collecting damages they would, but the simple concept of raising families seems what the concept is founded in. People seem to live with and “love” whoever and whatever they want anyway.
    The idea was to maybe give tax breaks to couples to have children and keep the country young. Beyond that, people can make any legal contract they want and call it whatever they want. I’d prefer to stop the spreading of pensions, social security, Medicare and benefits just based on “marriage” of any sort.
    Though maybe that’s a good hook for me … find a cute single teacher ready to retire in a few years … I’ll share her benefits, she can share my Medicare and maybe a little SS … better start writing the personal ad … working the system is where it’s at I guess. But the are no conservative teachers, as far as I know, so that wouldn’t work very well. πŸ™‚
  2. Gee bill, would the teacher really have to be “cute”? πŸ™‚
    But seriously, once gay marriage is the law of the land, it will be time to abolish marriage altogether.
    Once the door is opened for “marriage” beyond the traditional one man/one woman, there is no reason to have marriage at all, except as a religious sacrament.
    Just make it another legal contract where people can decide among themselves who gets pensions, S.S., insurance, the kids, house, pets, etc.
    It will be a free-for-all within the perimeters of the contracts drawn among the consenting parties.
    There really is no reason to bar polygamy, parent/child unions,/sibling unions/etc. if there is a legal, binding contract.
    Which, I suspect, is what the gay activists wanted all along.
  3. They might just want to destroy the Christian norm, but I think the benefits are a pretty big deal.
    yeah .. cute and conservative … and if she has a nice pension that would be better … and able to run a tractor would be nice … but i’m not picky, except for all that πŸ™‚
  4. Readers who feel they meet bill’s stringent requirements:
    1. Cute
    2. Conservative
    3. Nice pension
    4. Able to operate farm equipment
    5. Willing to relocate to rural Adams County,
    should send your qualifications to me and I will forward them to bill.
    Pay no attention to an earlier comment by bill where he describes himself as “scary-looking”. πŸ™‚
  5. LOL … well that was my liberal lala land scenario of using/abusing “marriage” just to maximize government benefits … but if such a groovy person exists that’s fine. But they may add hermitized to scary looking, and we can go from there … πŸ™‚
