“If You Repeat A Lie Often Enough, People Will Believe It”
Tearing a page out of Mein Kampf, Phil Hare again repeated his discedited lies about the latest Democrat healthcare bill in The Dispatch.
It was all there, the claim that “it will not add one penny to the deficit”, that it “would not pay for abortions or provide coverage for illegal immigrants” and that it will only cost $900B over 10 years.
But Hare was caught in his own web of lies and deceit when he said this:
“This is not a government takeover of our health care system. It drives competition and keeps the insurance companies honest…The public option will not destroy the health insurance industry, and it won’t force Americans into anything they don’t want. . . This bill isn’t out to do anything to harm insurance companies or run them out of business.”
But later in the article there was this:
“The bill would prevent insurers from refusing to cover pre-existing conditions and dropping clients based on previous claims. It also would make the insurance industry subject to ani-trust laws. Additionally, it would penalize large companies that don’t offer employee coverage.”
Just what we need in an economic downturn—more penalties on business. And when insurance companies are forced by government fiat to insure the economically uninsurable what do you think will happen? Most will go out of business, leaving many more unemployed and those that remain will become wards of the state like GM and the banking industry—which leaves the only choice the government choice.
These Hare lame talking points have been published over and over again in the Dispatch without
comment or challenge, which makes them propagandists promoting Hitler’s dictum: “if you repeat a lie often enough, people will believe it.”
The Man In The Mirror
David Brooks is an Obama worshipping RINO who believes Obama is the smartest man on the planet and who doesn’t quetion his intellectual brilliance regarding the strategy of the war in Afghanistan. What he does question is whether Obama has the commitment, tenacity and determination to make a decision and see it through no matter what happens.
And so, I find myself in agreement with RINO Brooks:
“So I guess the president’s most important meeting is not the one with the Joint Chiefs and the cabinet secretaries. It’s the one with the mirror, in which he looks for some firm conviction about whether Afghanistan is worthy of his full and unshakable commitment. If the president cannot find that core conviction, we should get out now. It would be shameful to deploy more troops only to withdraw them later. If he does find that conviction, then he should let us know, and fill the vacuum that is eroding the chance of success.”
I couldn’t agree more. Months later, it seems obvious that Obama used Afghanistan as “the good war’ in order to (again/still) bash Bush and gain political advantage. But now, he looks weak, feckless and dithering which our enemies have noticed and are capitalizing upon.
I think it might be possible to defeat the extremists in Afghanistan, but if Obama doesn’t have the balls to stand up to the nutrotters and other critics then he should just declare defeat and bring the troops home—NOW.
Not one more soldier should have to die in Afghanistan because of Obama’s political and personal weakness.
Lutherans Gone Wild!
It’s hard to imagine Lutherans and Lutheranism being wild and wacky, but there is a schism brewing in the ELCA denomination about some extremist heresy posted on the official ELCA website.
Even though the ELCA is one of the more liberal denominations, those who want to break from it and join another denomination claim it isn’t just the recent ruling allowing openly practicing homosexuals to serve as pastors, it is the extremism advocated on the official ELCA website which claims, among other things, that it is no longer necessary to believe in Jesus for salvation and that everybody is saved, even Satan worshipers, which is radical, to say the least.
Those defending this departure from traditional Lutheran teaching claim that it is all about drawing the unchurched and strays to Lutheranism because according to Kai Swanson: “Questions about the salvation of others is not what God or the Gospel calls me to do…It calls me to share the good news with all, and warns me about judging others.”
But the juiciest quote from Swanson is this bit of snark:
“Maybe the ELCA doesn’t offer enough judgment or condemnation for some people.’
Or maybe the ELCA doesn’t offer enough sneering, judgmental, condescending, arrogant smartasses like Swanson—who knows?
Though raised a Lutheran in the conservative LCMS, I no longer have a singer in this choir. What I find disturbing is that some Lutherans believe it is perfectly acceptable to dupe the rubes into thinking Lutheranism is some sort of faux-Unitarianism, when the truth is much different.
Haven’t these ELCA people ever been told not to give false witness?
Hoot Of The Day
From Tom Maguire about Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s comment that she found it hard to believe no one in Pakistan’s government knew where al Qaeda leaders were hiding:
“My goodness – I would expect that a woman who couldn’t even find her Rose Law Firm billing records in her own White House residence would be a bit more sympathetic. So now Hillary is traveling the world questioning other people’s veracity – we never would have had this kind of fun if McCain had won.”
All The President’s Fat Cats
According to USA Today:
“More than 40% of President Obama’s top-level fundraisers have secured posts in his administration, from key executive branch jobs to diplomatic postings in countries such as France, Spain and the Bahamas”
I can’t get too worked up about the “diplomatic” posts going to Obama’s fat cats, since this is common practice in every administration, although the article says Obama has appointed more fat cats to these positions than ever before.
The problem seems to be that these wealthy donors and bundlers have received high-level positions in places like the FCC, EPA, OMB, AG’s office, Transportion, Education, Treasury, Commerce, Agriculture, and Energy Departments and hilariously, an office devoted to “ethics and government reform”.
What a hoot!
All these fat cats in key positions partially explains the utter incompetence of the Obama Administration.
Instead of “smart, competent” people Obama swore would surround and advise him, filthy rich fat cats are running the Obama Show.
Phil Hare’s New, Improved “Affordable Health Care Of America Act”
The recently released House health care reform bill (HR3962) is 1990 pages and contains 13 new tax hikes including taxes on employers, individuals, medicines, medical devices, small businesses, corporations and much, much more.
But so what—at least Phil’s major campaign donors, Big Labor and trial lawyers will be happy.
Isn’t that the most important thing?
Thank You President Obama!
The latest Gallup poll of American’s political views broke down this way:
40% conservative
36% moderate
20% liberal
Obama, who is purported to be the most brilliant human on the planet, obviously misread the results of the last election; the country isn’t trending left or endorsing his big government/big spending policies, they have had the bejeebus scared out of them with one-party leftwing Democrat rule.
Also of note are these findings in the poll:
**this is the first time conservatives have out numbered moderates since ‘04
**those believing there is too much government regulation of business jumped from 38% to 45%
**those favoring DECREASE in immigration jumped from 39% to 51%
**those claiming to be pro-life jumped from 44% to 51%
Between one party GOP rule and divided government, the public really hasn’t experienced wacked-out liberalism since ‘92, so it has to be a shock for the public to see it in all its glory.
So a big shout-out and hearty thanks to Obama and leftwingers like Nancy Pelosi and Phil Hare for giving America the wake up call we so desperately need.
What Happens In DC Stays In DC
While doing research for a post featuring Phil Hare’s widely disseminated comment during a House committee hearing with the EPA about the Clean Water Act that “I just can’t imagine turning on your faucet and manure coming out” I found this little gem from the Quincy (IL) Herald-Whig which offered a nice constrast between the way Hare is covered in the QCs and how he is covered elsewhere in the 17th CD.
The local press didn’t mention Hare’s quote at all, even though it was featured in such august publications as the NYTimes and The Boston Globe.
But Doug Wilson of the Quincy H-W, who I’m sure wasn’t present at the hearing, chose to put a local spin on Hare’s DC doings. He checked with the local conservation service and reported that “there’s a lot of misconception that agriculture is a big contributor to pollution.” He contacted the Adams County Health Department which reported there were few problems with water quality there. He contacted the Quincy water filtration plant (no quote from Oracle) who explained how water in Quincy is treated, tested and filtered.
In contrast, the QC press allows Hare to lead a dual life; anything and everything Hare says or does in DC —IN OUR NAME—isn’t deemed important or worthy of reporting—if it ain’t happenin’ in the QCs, it ain’t happenin’.
What Hare does and says in DC affects the entire 17th—the local press needs to stop protecting Hare and tell us the truth about what he is promoting when he is away from home.
Quote Of The Day
From blogger and QCE commenter Mark Archibald in today’s Dispatch:
“I want a strong and healthy democracy for the state of Illinois, a change here in Illinois.”
Amen to that!
