Our Wonderful President Explains The Difference Between Republicans And Democrats

In an article in The New York Times Barack Obama explains the difference between the 44 Democrats who voted against Waxman-Markey and the Republicans who also voted against it:

“I think those 44 Democrats are sensitive to the immediate political climate of uncertainty around this issue . . . They’ve got to run every two years, and I completely understand that.”

Here’s what Obama says about the Republicans who also voted against Waxman-Markey:

“Those Republicans ‘are 16 years behind the times . . . They’re fighting not even the last war . . . They’re fighting three wars ago.”

OK, let me get this straight—Democrats are victims of the two year election cycle, but Republicans are not. Republicans are not voting the wishes of their constituents like Democrats, they are just “fighting three wars ago”, which Democrts are not.

OOOooooKaaayyyy Barry, whatever.

Gee, it seems eons ago when Obama employed his soaring rhetoric and sweet smile to claim there were no blue states or red states, just the UNITED STATES to thundering applause—at the Democrat Convention, no less.

But like so many other Obama statements, his claim of post-partisanship has reached its expiration date.

Conservatives And Liberals Finally Discover Common Ground

Paul Krugman in today’s New York Times:

“And as I watched [those who oppose Waxman-Markey] make their arguments,I couldn’t help thinking that I was watching a form of treason—treason against the planet.”

Nicole Belle in the leftwing blog Crooks and Liars is in full froth over Fox News coverage of the climate change bill:

“. . . Fox Nation writers, in order to put it in right wing terms the pitchfork gang can understand and appreciate, tweaked [an AP story about Waxman-Markey] thusly: ‘Treason? House Passes Direct Assault On Industrial Base’ . . . But then, in Fox Nation, anyone who dares disagree with the solons of right wing dogma is are traitors.’

Or a leftwing traitor—I’m so confused!

Leftwinger Paul Krugman calls voting against the climate change bill “treason”.

On the other hand, Fox News characterizes Waxman-Markey as “treason”, so which is it? Or is it both? Or neither?

What about anyone who dares disagree with the solons of left wing dogma being branded a traitor?

I’m just happy the left and right finally agree on something—-Waxman-Markey is treason.

Unfortunately, in all this bipartisan comity, I do believe the word “treason” has become another useless, meaningless word.

Your Tax Dollars At Work

British Rum Maker Got A 2.7 Billion Payout From TARP

The first time TARP was presented to congress for a vote, it was a miserable failure , but Phil Hare was one of the faithful few who voted for it the first time—and then the second.

His rationale at the time was that even though TARP was extremely unpopular among his constituents, he had promised his father he would do everything he could to see that other families would not be tossed out of their homes in a foreclosure, the way the Hare family was.

Now it seems Hare must have also promised his dad that he would do everything he could to keep the rum flowing to the the USA.

All The President’s Moonbats

Obama’s nominee for regulation czar, Cass Sunstein, has been blocked by Republican Senator Saxby Chambliss because of Sunstein’s bizarre views on animal welfare.

In Sunstein’s 2004 book Animal Rights: Current Debates and New Directions, Sunstein writes:

“I will suggest that animals should be permitted to bring suit, with human beings as their representatives, to prevent violation of the current law.”

Did I mention that Sunstein is currently a law professor at Harvard, or that he met Obama when they were both teaching law at University of Chicago?

This would seem to explain part of it—it’s obviously a scheme to get full employment for trial lawyers.

It is also instructive to see what happens when the liberal elite academic bubble is pierced by reality—hilarity ensues!

Of course Sunstein now swears he will not let any of his wacky ideas affect the way he does the job of regulatory czar, which will have authority over new Obama administration regulations, but how would he know? He obviously didn’t see anything wrong with Lawyers For Animals, otherwise he wouldn’t have written a book about it.

What is truly frightening is that Obama has stocked his administration with these out-of-touch-with-the-real-world people—mirror images of himself.

Hoot Of The Day

It seems Phil Hare’s enthusiasm for the recent purchase of Hartmarx by Britian’s Emerisque Brands and SKNL North America has unhinged our poor Philster from reality.

From The Dispatch:

“[Hare's spokesman] confirmed that one possibility is more jobs could be coming to the Rock Island plant . . . One of the possibilities Emerisque is considering is closing a Hart Schafner Marx plant in Alabama that makes pants and moving those jobs to an expanded plant in Rock Island.”

Anyone who believes that any rational or viable company would seriously consider moving a plant from pro-business right-to-work Alabama to unionized, anti-business, soon-to-raise taxes Illinois has been smoking too much Hopium.

But still, the Democrats will be shrieking with delight and praising Hare for TALKING about jobs that don’t exist and probably never will. I’ve never seen people get as excited as Democrats hearing sweet nothings whispered in their ears by their manipulative politicians.

I can guarantee that if Emerisque DID make such a crackheaded decision, it wouldn’t be long before it would be begging the government for a bailout.

Quote Of The Day

From Althouse on Obama’s new executive order allowing indefinite detention of terrorists:

“Be like Bush. But blame Bush. The magic formula.”

It’s Not Exactly Preston Brooks vs. Charles Sumner . . .

. . . but at least it’s a helluva lot more entertaining.

Yesterday Democrat Rep. David Obey and Democrat Rep. Maxine Waters got in a shouting match over Obey’s refusal to allow Water’s $1 million dollar earmark request.

Hilarity ensued!

“Witnesses . . .said it appeared that Waters pushed or shoved Obey . . . The pair were seen shouting at each other and had to be separated by members . . .”

Did I mention that both Obey and Waters are 71 years old?

What a spectacle—two leftwing septuagenarians going at it over the spoils of taxpayer moolah!

The obvious lesson here is never come between a politician and “free” money.

It Ain’t The Heat, It’s The Stupidity

An excerpt of an email from South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford to his (un)wise Latina woman:

“I could digress and say that you have the ability to give magnificent gentle kisses, or that I love your tan lines or that I love the curve of your hips, the erotic beauty of you holding yourself (or two magnificent parts of yourself) in the faded glow of the night’s light — but hey, that would be going into sexual details . . .”

Well, yeah, can’t have sexual details—wouldn’t be prudent.

Sheesh!

I wish I could get worked up about this, but after experiencing the Blago governership, my give a damn is broken—partially because this sort of thing is becoming increasingly common among our political class but mostly it’s just become boring.

Republicans just don’t know how to pull off an adulterous affair with flair and panache. Earlier this year, Nevada GOP Senator Ensign admitted having an affair with one of his friends; Sanford had an affair with an email buddy—how original ZZZZzzzz.

Democrats really know how to pull this sort of thing off with style:

**Former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer was caught with a prostitute;

**JFK was bonking a mafia moll (among MANY others);

**John Edwards knocked up a campaign worker after his wife was diagnosed with cancer;

**Bill Clinton got blow jobs in the WH and ultimately got impeached (not for the blow jobs, however)

**Former New Jersey Governor Jim McGreevey claimed he cheated on his wife because he discovered he was gay.

See what I mean? The GOP should leave this stuff to the professionals, because when Republicans do it they come off looking boring or stupid—or both.

Pulling Numbers Out His Keester

Phil Hare cheerleading the QC to Chicago rail service:

“It would be wonderful. You are talking about 800 jobs or more”.

Where did Hare get the 800 number—out of his ample @ss? Why not 80, or 8000 or 80,000 or 8 million? Did 800 just sound Goldilocks right—not too hot, not too cold?

It is important to note that Amtrak has never turned a profit in its history, so the 80, 800, 8000, 80,000 jobs Hare claims will be “created” by the QC to Chicago rail service will be “serviced” by taxpayers for all eternity. Cool, huh?

Hare also talks about health care and parrots Obama’s talking points by saying “If you like your health care now, you like your doctor and your provider, you don’t have to worry about it. You are not forced out and the government will not take over your policy.”

Well yeah, of course not—everyone will want the “free” government health care.

Sheesh! How dumb does Hare think we are?

Dumb enough to vote for Democrats evidently.
