Give Me Your Tired, Your Poor, Your Huddled Terrorists, Yearning To Breathe Free

On Sunday’s Meet the Press ,Dick Durbin said he would accept Guantanamo detainees in Illinois as long as they were held in a super-max prison.

I didn’t know we had a super-max in Illinois, but after a little consultation with Mr. Google, I discovered we DO have a super-max in Tamms.

Yeah, I didn’t know where Tamms was either, but it is located at the very bottom of Illinois in Alexander County, across the Mississippi from Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

A few observations:

**The latest Rasmussen Reports shows that 57% of the public is AGAINST bringing the Gitmo detainees to this country, so it was wise for our Dick to sneak this in over the holiday weekend. Soon the news of the NorK eruption eclipsed the Sunday shows, then Obama eclipsed the NorKs with his announcement of the SCOTUS nominee, which means our Dick’s generous offer will be buried and sent down the memory hole.

**It should be noted that “human-rights” organizations are as opposed to the super-max in Tamms as they are to Gitmo, so nothing will be settled for them, except the controversy will be brought home to our state.

**This is just more proof of how out of touch our political class is; 57% oppose this move, yet our Dick didn’t bother to check with us before making the offer. So I think it’s safe to say our Dick is working for Barack Obama and NOT the people of this state.

Our Dick knows that if he suffered no consequences from smearing our military in the well of the Senate, he will not suffer any consequences by bringing terrorists to Tamms.

Isn’t it time we showed our political class who’s boss?

The “Smart Diplomacy” President

From The New York Times:

“Why has President Obama put himself in a position from which he cannot deliver on his own professed interest in improving relations with [Iran]? Some diplomatic veterans who have spoken with him have told us that the president said that he did not realize, when he came to office, how ‘hard’ the Iran problem would be.”

The Road To Hell

Christopher Fountain upon learning that the taxpayer funded Fannie Mae “Home-Saver” rescue plan has a 70% foreclosure rate:

“I doubt anyone in Washington is too worried about this. The point of all our welfare programs is not that they don’t work—we’ve known that at least since the failure of the War on Poverty—but whether our intentions are good. And what demonstrates a good intention better than confiscating billions from one group of citizens and bestowing it on another?”

Doing The Jobs Americans Refuse To Do

From The New York Times:

“The United States is now relying heavily on foreign intelligence services to capture, interrogate and detain all but the highest-level terrorist suspects seized outside of the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan . . .”

Knock! Knock! Who’s There?

Big Brother.

. . .”if you have a wireless router, a cordless phone, remote car-door opener, baby monitor or cellphone in your house, the FCC claims the right to enter your home without a warrant at any time of the day or night in order to inspect it”.

Is This A Great Country Or What?

For only $49.95 you can be the proud owner of a Nancy Pelosi action figure complete with waterboard and tight, phony smile.

But hurry, even at 50 bucks a pop there is a three week backlog.

It is heartening that Obama and the Democrats have not yet killed our entrepreneurial spirit or diminished our joy in greedy capitalism.

The Campaign Ad Just Writes Itself . . .

. . . Congressional Democrats want you to pay $2 more for a case of beer to finance their national health care scheme.

Also, an additional beer tax of 48 cents per six pack; 49 cents per bottle of wine and hard liquor up by 40 cents per fifth.

Add this to the Illinois Democrats new tax of 13 cents per bottle of wine, 80 cents per bottle of hard liquor and 2.6 cents per six pack of beer and I do believe it’s time to invest in one of those beer making kits they sell at Camp McClellan Cellars in the Village of East Davenport.

Durbin is a leftwing lockstepper, but is safe for another six years; Hare is up for election next year, and he has never been known to do anything other than march in lockstep with his party and his special interest paymasters.

So let’s see how his blue-collar union base likes his $2 per case tax in order to give “free” health care to 50 million people.
