How Do You Know When Politicians Are Lying?

From State Rep. Pat Verschoore’s (D-Freerider) official website:

“[Verschoore] stands up against the special interests and opposes all tax and fee increases.”

Verschoore quote in the January 13, 2009 Dispatch:

“I think we need to have either income tax or sales tax increases…”

  1. It is easy to tell when politicians are lying. The most obvious sign is when their lips are moving and words spew from their mouths. The next most obvious is that they seem lost in deep thought (planning that next big lie to come out of their mouth). Breathing is also a subtle sign of lying by a politician. If they are breathing they are trying to think up some lie to tell. A more difficult sign is dead silence. This is usually the worst type of lie as it means what they are doing/have done is so bad that any lie they tell you will be figured out immediately. So they keep their mouth shit and avoid eye-to-eye contact with the victims. About the only time a politician is not lying is when they are laying stone cold dead in the grave. Of course that depends also on their ability to sow lies that reproduce themselves even past the lifetime of their creator. Now that is a champion politician!

  2. I remember when Mike Boland pledgeed to only serve two terms. Sixteen years later Boland and his fellow career political hack Pat Quinn now clamour for term limits. What a joke?

  3. Scoundrel, I considered editing your comment to correct an obvious typo, (or maybe it was a Freudian slip) but decided it was too delicious to delete:

“So [politicians] keep their mouths shit and avoid eye-to-eye contact with the victims.”

    What a h00t and so true—shitty mouths!

I’ll fix it if you want, and delete this comment—but I’d say it’s a keeper. :-D

  4. Nancy, the possibilities and examples are endless!

But as your Boland example proves, our political class could advocate the sacrificing of every first born child and STILL get elected—and they know it.

I used to be disgusted but now I’m just amused. :-D

  5. ROFLMAO. I noticed the slip up after I posted it. I considered posting a correction. But after reading the post it actually sounded more appropriate than shut, though a little short on good grammar. Not that grammar has ever been one of my strong suits (mostly by choice). But then whatta ya want good grammar or good taste( well okay good taste is not one of my strong suits either).

  6. It’s unfair to blame Boland and Quinn for favoring term limits just because they have had their fill at the all you can trough. Mike and Pat didn’t invent this crooked system, they just perfected it. There is nothing better than running against government and then spending 20 years cashing your taxpayer financed paycheck!

Rest assured that Boland and Quinn will raise taxes and get us out of the mess they helped create. Term limits, sherm limits!!!!
