Send Lawyers, Guns and Money. . .
. . . or better yet, just send money to lawyers, which seems to be the purpose of H.R. 11 bizarrely named The Paycheck Fairness Act/Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act which, rather than requiring equal pay for equal work, because laws are already on the books for that, is created for more trial lawyers to get their John Edwards style 28,000 sq. ft. McMansions.
This bill upends centuries of legal tradition by abolishing the statute of limitations on claims for unfair pay. So those with a pay beef are on the same level as choirboys molested by priests.
It’s easy to see the unintended consequences of this jobs and business killing bill; employers would get into defensive crouch and hire fewer women. The additonal record-keeping and insurance costs would be passed on to consumers, which in this economy would mean fewer jobs for everyone.
Why Democrats insist on killing business with this sort of anti-business legislation is amazing—-or maybe not considering trial lawyers are one of the top contributors to Democrats.
As you might expect, our specially selected congressman doesn’t see the problem here, since he is also a beneficiary of trial lawyer largess. As usual, we can count on Hare to say something inane about any given subject and the statement on his website doesn’t disappoint:
“The opposition to these bills is laughable. . .If you don’t practice pay discrimination, this will not affect you. If you deny women equal pay for equal work, you will face the consequences. That is as it should be.”
What a moralistic preening jerk—what does Hare know about running a business?
The ‘consequences” that Hare warns of will be fewer women hired—women will suffer while trial lawyers rake in the moolah.
H.R. 11 has nothing to do with women and fairness—it has everything to do with Democrat pay-for-play.
Let’s hope this bill is modified some in the Senate, but the truth is that the Democrats have total control and can do what they please—and they will please their special interest groups.
Lawyers ya can’t live with them and every since they have permeated the government legislator with their smoke and mirror shows – ya can’t live – without them. They shoot horses don’t they?

So true S, the USA has got to be the most overlawyered nation in the world.
I always get a hoot out of the leftwingers who believe that George Bush got up one morning and decided to invade Iraq or that he unilaterally decided to “torture” detainees.
Sheesh! Every danged word and deed said and done by POTUS is checked and re-checked by a battalion of lawyers.
But the Democrats intend to fool the rubes by claiming this bill is about “women’s fair pay” rather than more jobs for trial lawyers.
I was reading the auto generated “Huggy Bear Hates Women” post above that was written in April ‘08 and the obviously leftwing blogger was saying McCain hates women because he didn’t back this bill last year for the same reason I mentioned; it doesn’t help women, it helps lawyers.
It’s unfortunate the public is so dimwitted, but then how would people like Blago and Hare ever have a career in politics?
