Another Reason To Vote For Obama

Erica Jong in an interview with an Italian news agency:

“If Obama loses it will spark the second American Civil War. Blood will run in the streets, believe me. And it’s not a coincidence that President Bush recalled soldiers from Iraq for Dick Cheney to lead against American itizens in the streets. Bush has transformed America into a police state, from torture to the imprisonment of reporters, to the Patriot Act.”

Yikes!

What could be a more compelling argument for an Obama presidency than avoiding a Second American Civil War and blood running in the streets? Well that and preventing Dick Cheney from leading the military against “American citizens in the street”.

Jeez!

You Had Me From Hello

The Dispatch/Argus endorses Barack Obama:

“We knew he was different the first time he walked through the door for an editorial board meeting at this paper. Barack Obama was erect and confident, with long, purposeful strides as he entered the room to ask our support for his U.S. Senate campaign.”

Looks like someone(s) at the D/A has a major mancrush on The One. But why stop at his posture and walking style? What about his rippling abs, his powerful thighs, his strong, manly jaw, his piercing brown eyes flashing with intelligence, etc.?

So I gotta ask: where does the D/A get their editors? My guess is they are former editors of Barbara Cartland novels, but I could be wrong.

Here’s another example, with an explanation from Howard Fineman:

“Much of the media coverage [of Obama] has been fawning to say the least, and with good reason. He is one of the most winsome, charismatic candidate to have appeared on the scene in decades.”

Winsome? Charismatic? Just what we need to solve our national problems—a duskier Pee Wee Herman.

Is it any wonder press credibility is at an all-time low? They are all Keith Olbermann now—and damned proud of it!

Headline Of The Day

October Surprise: Alien Endorses McCain!

The nut graff:

“At a recent McCain rally, inside sources say Cindy McCain disappeared with the Alien after sharing several champagnes with the notorious intergalactic lightweight. Ms. McCain’s alien-like good looks and natural blood temperature of 54 degrees Fahrenheit may have proved too much for him to resist as she reportedly put her cyborg husband into sleep mode and worked her charms.”

Go to the link for “exclusive” photos of Cindy McCain in a hot tub with the Alien.

I’ll bet the New York Times is furious they got scooped on this story.

I’m Bad, I’m Nationwide

Jennifer Rubin:

“. . . Obama’s campaign has exhibited a disturbing and consistent tendency to squash dissent, rough up his critics, and conceal records (medical and state senate voting records for starters), enlist police powers for political ends, aid and abet in voter registration fraud, and pull the race card. This is worse than the old politics which was a code word for “Clinton-Bush politics”. The closest analogy I can think of is Richard Nixon.

The danger therefore, is not that Obama will be a recycled, cynical liberal, it is that given the latitude afforded by a compliant media and a Democratic Congress, the temptation to abuse power will be overwhelming; it’s the Chicago Way after all.”

Can’t wait for The Chicago Way to go nationwide—-the entire country should be able to enjoy what we experience here in Illinois.

Democrat Logic

According to Nancy Pelosi ,who addresses fears concerning Democrat one-party rule in DC:

“Elect us, hold us accountable, and make a judgment and then go from there. But I do tell you that if Democrats win, and have substantial majorities, Congress of the United States will be more bipartisan.’

OK, I’ve stopped laughing, so here’s a few points:

1. Democrat Congresspersons have not been held accountable for the lies they told in ‘06 about how they would end the war, be the most ethical congress in history, work five days a week, etc. Why should be believe Democrats will be held “accountable” in ‘08 or ‘10 or ever?

2. I’m wondering how the reporter resisted the urge to ask Ms. Pelosi how, when one political party has absolute control of the government, that would be “more bipartisan”. It looks like “bipartisan” is another word that has lost its meaning like “racist” and “liar”.

From this example of Pelosi’s Democrat logic I will predict that besides the Department of Peace, we can expect the Obama administration to form a Ministry of Truth that will be designed to “re-educate” us to believe that up is down and down is up.

UPDATE: It seems I wasn’t the only one mocking Nancy about her “more bipartisan” comment because there was this update with her explanation:

“Right now, if [Republicans] think they can stop you, they’ll act in the most radical way. But if they know it’s going to happen anyway, they might be willing to be a part of the shaping of policy.”

1. Anyone who believes the Democrats would allow the GOP to “shape policy” when they have a super-majority is smokin’ some of that San Francisco treat.

2. Nancy is talking the way a rapist talks his victim: just relax and you won’t get hurt—or at least killed.

What a disgusting liar Pelosi is!

Over Shoulder Booty Holder

Massachusetts Democrat State Senator Dianne Wilkerson was caught on tape accepting $23,500 in bribes from undercover agents.

Stories about corrupt politicians aren’t particularly shocking or even interesting except in this case, instead hiding the money in her freezer, which is the accepted place Democrats stash their ill-gotten gains, Wilkerson stuffed all $23,000 in her bra.

There is video of this “bust”, but go to the link for a still of this amazing scene. The story didn’t say what size Wilkerson’s over-shoulder-boulder-holder was, but I’m guessing she didn’t get the entire $23,500 in one dollar bills.

The Two Americas

The America where it is permitted to display a likeness of Sarah Palin hanging by a noose because it is part of a Halloween display and the America that would be outraged if a likeness of Barack Obama hanging by a noose was given a pass because it was part of a Halloween display.

The two Americas: The America where a hate crime is actually considered a crime and the America where a hate crime is considered good, clean Halloween fun.

Story from the LA Times.

Hoot Of The Day

From The Columbus Dispatch:

A federal judge in Ohio has ruled that counties must allow homeless voters to list park benches and other locations that aren’t buildings as their address.

If Obama doesn’t win Ohio by a landslide, it will be because his supporters were too lazy to get off their keesters and travel to Ohio to vote for The One from park benches and doorways all over the great State O’ Ohio.

I should point out that this crackpot ruling was handed down by a Clinton appointee. Let’s hope the GOP won’t be so kindly about approving Obama’s picks for the bench as they were Clinton’s.

What’s So Funny ‘Bout Peace, Love And Understanding?

DC Examiner (no relation) looks at some of the coming new spending measures expected to come from a liberal Congress and a liberal President Obama:

1. Tax relief for trial lawyers which would include laws that would encourage more “jackpot justice” lawsuits, because we all know not enough trial lawyers can afford those 28,000 sq. ft. McMansions and $400 haircuts.

2. Global Poverty Act. Our tax dollars supporting the global downtrodden.

3. Federal subsidies to buy gas for families making up to three times the federal poverty line.

4. Wage insurance which would be a new payroll tax on all workers that would pay people up to 50% of the difference in wages between their old job and a new, lower paying job. Think of the fraud this baby would encourage!

5. A new, cabinet level, multi-billion dollar federal Department of Peace. (H.R.808)

This new DOP would include the Office of Peace, Education and Training, Office of Domestic Peace Activities, Office of International Peace Activities, Office of Technology for Peace, Office of Arms Control and Disarmament, and the Office of Peaceful Co-Existence and Non-Violent Conflict Resolutions.

I can’t stop laughing! The fact that so many members of Congress seem to be stuck in a 1960s time warp is nothing short of alarming—and hilarious. It should be one hell of an expensive boondoggle though—just look at the Dept. of Homeland Security—more jobs for bureaucrats—just what we need to get this country back on track!

I’ve been clear about my political leanings; I used to be an Obama girl until I discovered he was a fraud, I never did like John McCain and I believe divided government is best—the best example of what happens when one party has absolute control can be found in our own wonderful State O’ Illinois.

But if the good people of this country decide they want an ultra-liberal POTUS and an ultra-liberal Congress, as a blogger, I’ll look forward to the fun I’ll have mocking The Office of Peaceful Co-Existence and Non-Violent Conflict Resolution and other silliness.

When the elections hand you a lemon—-make bloggy lemonade!

When In Doubt, Punt

After a series of weaselly “endorsements”, I was curious how the Dispatch/Argus would handle the Jacobs/Bertelsen race for Illinois Senate.

In this case they framed the race as “Insider vs. Outsider”, even though the others were all about ins and outs too.

In the case of both Hare and Durbin, the D/A said both were too liberal and promoted policies that would HURT the district, yet they endorsed both anyway because the gave good pork. With Boland, even though the D/A rarely endorsed him in the past, he got a pass because he has been “working” on the WIU-QC campus—for years, with no results.

It would have been more honest for the D/A to admit they all suck, or just say “no comment” and refuse to endorse anyone—-which they seem to have done with Jacobs/Bertelsen.

The nut graff:

“We leave it to voters to determine which personality and approach are the right ones to help end the gridlock and acrimony in Springfield.”

Which is probably more honest than damning with faint praise as they did with the previous three Democrats they endorsed.
