A Man Of The People

Since he has no opponent this year, our specially selected congressman was chosen by Pelosi to take one for the team and vote for the bailout against the wishes of his constituents. This way Pelosi could meet her quota and blame the GOP for failure, even though the Democrat majority could have passed the measure without the GOP.

The Dispatch engages in some press release journalism with these Hare quotes:

“It was not a gift or a blank check . . .It provided the federal government the authority to loan money to certain financial institutions so they could resume lending to ordinary Americans. This would have allowed more families to afford their homes, cars and tuition payments and enable our farmers to continue buying equipment, seed and fertilizer. . . Now it is imperative that we go back to the drawing board and craft new bipartisan legislation that protects Main Street from Wall Street.”

All this is beyond dishonest, but so typical. Last I heard, Hare was against this abomination, but since he voted for it, it seems the DNC has provided him with handy talking points to explain why he voted against the will of the people in his district.

As I’ve said, I don’t know much about high finance, but I do understand political rhetoric. Can you remember ever hearing that this bailout was a “loan’ rather than a blank check? In fact, Obama has often railed about just that—a bailout for Wall Street instead of Main Steet saying there would be no blank check for greedy Wall Streeters. Obama said this just yesterday to cheering and seemingly retarded crowds.

So all along this has been framed as a “bailout” for the greedy, but now Hare says it’s just a loan. The Democrats must think we’re stupid—or we live in gerrymandered districts and therefore it doesn’t matter WHAT we think.

The last part of the above quote is the most dishonest because Hare claims new legislation must be crafted that “protects Main Street from Wall Street”. This statement is either deeply dishonest or extremely stupid.

As even people like me know, there is no separating Main Street from Wall Street—they have been intertwined for decades and cannot be pulled apart, even by “new bipartisan legislation”.

With Hare you always have to wonder—-is he dumb or just dishonest?

Why We Hate Them

Republican Representative Paul Ryan from Wisconsin said this about the impending vote in the House for the bailout:

“We’re all worried about losing our jobs. . .Most of us say ‘I want this thing to pass, but I want you to vote for it—not me.’”

As this is written it appears the bill has gone down in flames in the House, and of course this is accompanied by falling stock prices. Stay tuned, but here’s my point:

It’s bad enough that the people in Congress, with jobs for life, who made this mess will suffer absolutely NO consequences, it’s that we have to bail them out instead of voting them out.

Does anyone really believe anyone in Congress is “worried about their jobs”?

Does anyone know how Phil Hare plans to vote on this? Yes, No, Present? Nobody knows because nobody cares. No matter how Hare votes on this, there is 0.00% chance he will lose his job, and neither will the other 99% who represent gerrymandered safe districts.

I really don’t understand why Pelosi and the Democrats are pushing so hard to insist 100 GOPers get on board. If this was really the right thing to do and no Democrat will suffer consequences, why doesn’t she just ram it through as she has done countless times in the past?

Her hysteria is so intense and unhinged, she called GOPers who didn’t attend a meeting THEY WEREN’T invited to “unpatriotic”—which takes the meaning of the word to a whole new level of idiocy. Why the overkill—-why is she afraid to lead?

Why are the Democrats doing this—-who really thinks Pelosi or Hare will lose their jobs if they vote for this unpopular bill?

What’s the real deal?

Burn Baby Burn

In what can only be described as a journalistic Whiskey Tango Foxtrot moment, Allison Samuels of Newsweek has written an article called What If Obama Loses?

Well, yeah, what if he does?

Proving she’s down with the homey Obamites, she describes the race between McCain and Obama as “tight as Sarah Palin’s smile”—class all the way.

Then, as if speaking of children, Samuels asks “What if Obama loses? How should people respond? What should they feel?” These are black “people” mind you, and they don’t know how to respond or what to feel about their candidate losing an election? Sheesh! I can’t remember the last my preferred candidate won an election, but for some odd reason, I didn’t need a journalist to tell me how to think or feel.

Samuels gives plenty of examples of black rage and victimhood:

“I’ve never forgotten that [Obama] is a smart, articulate black man with a smart, articulate black wife. . .You think white people were just going to turn over the keys to the most important job in the land without a fight?”

Except for the fact that Obama’s running mate got in trouble for saying Obama is “articulate”, I was at the LeClaire caucus where Obama overwhelming won with the help of the very same sneered at “white people”. Class all the way.

Then we get this bit from an angry black man:

“There’s not a lot of anger—yet—but you can start to sense the potential for it. I’m going to be mad, real mad, if [Obama] doesn’t win. . .Because for him to come this far and lose will be just shady and a slap in black people’s faces. I know there is already talk about protests and stuff if he loses, and I’m down for that. . .”

We can thank Al Gore for spreading the meme that elections are illegitimate because if they weren’t he would have won in ‘00. So it’s no wonder that blacks, a major Democrat voting bloc, believe that if their candidate loses, it’s a “slap in the face”, “shady” and stolen, not won. Thanks Al!

Then there’s this ominous final quote:

“I know it’s crazy to go from not thinking a black man counts to thinking one should win the president of the United States for sure, but I’m not sure how I’ll handle that if it doesn’t happen”.

I really want to know what is the purpose of this article? Was it to paint blacks as out of control children who will smash and destroy things if they don’t get their way? Are the blacks that are quoted in this article really in the mainstream—or the extreme? Are we supposed to vote for Obama out of fear of what his black worshippers will do? Should we feel sorry for blacks and vote for Obama so blacks won’t be disappointed?

I honestly don’t see how this article is useful, unless the point was to strike fear in whitey’s heart and present blacks as children who are out of control and must be appeased.

I thought all the journalistic anti-Palin ugliness was the nadir of journalism—-it looks like the Palin-haters have some competition.

They Never Let Poor Rudolph Join In Any Reindeer Games

What I initially thought was just more local Democrat propaganda from the Rock Island County Democrat Party, turned out to include some useful information about absentee voting, voter registration and early voting.

In a section headed “Your Candidates”, as in “What you mean by ‘your’, kemosabe”, they listed the rogues gallery of Democrats who will be on the ballot November 4. The only competitive race will be Obama/Biden, the others either have no opponent or are in safe districts—democracy in action.

Beginning at the top of the ticket with Obama/Biden, then Durbin and Hare, then IL officials, Jacobs and free rider Verschoore; then the Kozy “Krat Korthouse Klub, Terronez, Robinson, Bierman and Gustafson; then the 25 County Board seats and the Chairman.

Like being airbrushed out of a Politburo photo taken at a Moscow May Day Parade, my state Rep. Mike Boland did not appear anywhere on this mailer.

Boland has a GOP challenger this election, so what did he do that was so bad to be banished from the “Your Candidates” list and to be shunned by the powerful Politburo?

Just as Al Sharpton said “it’s not enough to be black, you have to be THE RIGHT KIND of black”, and just as liberal feminists believe it’s not enough to be a woman, you have to be THE RIGHT KIND OF WOMAN, it now seems in RICO, it’s not enough to be a Democrat, you have to be THE RIGHT KIND OF DEMOCRAT.

The RICO Kozy ‘Krat Klubhouse apparently has strict rules about who is allowed to join and play in the games and who isn’t.

Since he has been cast out of the Politburo, I might consider voting for Boland instead of voting for change and the GOPer.

Nah—-just joking!

The Allure Of THE ONE

Abe Greenwald:

Forget the fact that Obama has no paper trail. There’s scarcely a record of his convictions – period. It could be that this, in some way, resonates with an electorate that itself has been sitting on the fence on crucial issues for years. They want to stop supporting dictators, but avoid the messy work of building democracies. They want to win in Iraq, but they want to end the war. They want smaller government, but everyone should have healthcare. They want to save Darfur, but wait for the UN. They want to drill offshore, but scold about it being a temporary fix. They want loans they can’t pay back, but want to punish the lenders. Obama lets his supporters indulge their passions without ever having to act upon them. Choose Obama and you never have to choose again. That’s a very appealing (and very dangerous) delusion.

Let’s Hope This Is True

U.S. Federal agents say they have enough evidence to indict Blagojevich for fraud and conspiracy.

The ball is in Patrick Fitzgerald’s court—he needs to make this happen.

Becoming What You Hate

Jennifer Rubin on Obama’s negative campaign:

“The irony is great: the mean, nasty old-style politician with little positive to say about specific solutions used to be what Obama was running against. Now McCain can run against that guy.”

Ripped From The Sarah Palin Playbook

Several downstate Illinois Republicans have an idea about how to keep the parks and historic sites from closing: Sell one of the government airplanes.

Hmmmm, I wonder where they got that idea?

Our wonderful State O’ Illinois has 16 planes and helicopters which Blago uses continually to shuttle back and forth between his home in Chicago and the seat of government in Springfield.

The Republican Senators figure if they can sell one plane for 2-2.5 million, that would keep the parks open for a year.

Obviously, this isn’t a permanent solution, but the fact that Blago uses these planes so much is extremely unpopular with the public, so why not make a little political hay?

My personal opinion is that the government needs to get out of the business of being in every nook and cranny of our society. If people believe these parks and historic sites are so important, and I do, why not take them off the taxpayer’s hands and turn them over to non-profits, or some other organization, so we will have fewer bureaucrats to support for the rest of their lives–and ours.

We just cannot afford the staggering costs of supporting so many government employees—-government is the largest employer in the entire country, and the growth of government workers who feed off taxpayers needs to be stopped.

Taking the parks and historic sites off our hands would be a good start.
