Why Is He So Afraid?
It what appears to be either a rookie mistake or panicky overkill, lawyers for the Obama campaign have been using thuggish bullying tactics to suppress free speech during the campaign.
The ad that has caused all the hysteria can be seen here and many other places, since we all know once an attempt is made to ban something, everybody wants to see it.
The ad is produced by a 501(c)4 entity called “American Issues Project” and is about Obama’s connection with terrorist Bill Ayers. Obama does not refute the charges in the ad because he can’t—they are true, but instead has threatened the TV stations that dared to run the ad, issued a counter-ad which doesn’t answer the charges and sent a complaint to the Department of Justice demanding the backers of the ad be investigated and prosecuted. Democrats always howl about Bush’s “jack-booted thugs”, but it seems a President Obama would be more than willing to criminalize all criticism of him.
Here’s a statement from the “American Issues Project”:
“The Obama campaign knows it can’t argue the facts of the link between Obama and Ayers, so it is instead resorting to a desperate campaign of intimidation and legal threats. The scary queston this raises is if Barack Obama demonstrates this little regard for free speech from his opponents during the campaign, what could the American people expect from him as a president? The tremendous amount of time, money and effort the campaign is expending to run its own ads on the Ayers controversy and dispatch its hired guns all over the country—during the Democratic convention—speaks to the fear they must have that this issue is resonating with American voters.”
Either that or the fear of “Swift-boating” has reached a pathological level with Democrats. Kerry didn’t lose because of the Swift Boat ads, he lost because he’s John Kerry.
But what I’m not understanding is why Obama hasn’t thrown Ayers under the bus along with all the others who have become inconvenient to his rise to power. What does Ayers have on him that makes him afraid? I’m thinking of the old saying “keep your friends close and your enemies closer”. The University of Illinois has recently opened the files on the Ayers/Obama Annenberg Challenge project on education—they were working together on this as recently as ‘01, so maybe something will surface, though I’m sure any damaging information has been scrubbed during the time the U of I put a lock on access.
I can’t imagine any good coming out of this show of force and intimidation by the Obama campaign—does he really want to open the door for the GOP to demand “investigation and prosecution” of all the pro-Obama/anti-McCain ads?
I can’t see how this helps Obama—it’s either his experience or panic that has caused this overkill—and neither makes him look good.
Again, this shows the unbelievable ability of the Left to lose a Presidential campaign that ‘fluffy the cat’ could have won.
The Liberal Press did not do their job and allowed Obama to go forth to his coronation without vetting him first. They should have come up with his (1) promotion of infacide, (2) connection with Ayers, (3) his close friendship with Pastor Wright, (4) his association with Rezco, and they were so far up this guys rear-end, they did not deal with the overwhelming lack of experience.
This election is getting away from Obama on all fronts – real fast.
Ads showing,
Hillary saying that he is not ready to lead,
Biden saying he is not ready to lead,
Ayers,
Wright (coming soon),
Are killing and will continue to kill Obama.
This Ayers ad – WOW! I can see where they don’t want this out.
I am not thrilled that President McCain will take the Republican Party further Left, but, it has to beat the heck out of Obama taxing business out of existence.

You mean you don’t want your $1000 gas money? What good will that do when gas is $6.00 a gallon and burgers $8.00 at Hardees? Remember Pelosi doesn’t think natural gas is a fossil fuel. And these tards think they can lead? How’s that plan going Nancy?
Comment by Tspud | August 27, 2008
T, your mention of Pelosi reminds me of all the hoopla about how “historic” it was that a woman was FINALLY Speaker of the House, breaking the marble ceiling, etc. But now Nancy looks less “historic” and more like an affirmative action hire—she is dumb as a box of rocks and couldn’t lead water downhill.
So now the buzz word is again “historic”, this time about Obama, although now it seems “historic” is just a code word for “black”.
I know this stuff gets the press all tingled up, but how is “historic” gonna help our problems if historic = affirmative action—and Nancy Pelosi is a typical Democrat affirmative action hire?

Obama is not “afraid” of anything. He, like many millions of Americans are tired of the Republican politics of fear. This time hope will win out over fear. We are tired of the most corrupt administration in history: the secrets, the policy-making behind closed doors, the obscene raping of the military and the nation by Cheney’s Halliburton. The list is endless. John McSame is so in bed with corporate America (read Keating) that he has sold his soul to the devil to get the Republican nomination. He used to have some shred of integrity, but has lost even that.
Comment by Pilar | August 28, 2008
Pilar – wow buddy, are you serious?
1. “Fear” – what fear?
2. “Hope” – have you been watching the same DNC as me? There is no hope there – the sky is falling from every dirdction!
You would think that there are bread lines on every street!
You would think that our enemies are lining up against us top go to war!
That is hope? I think that you have ‘hope’ and ‘fear’ confused.
3. ‘Most corrupt administration in history’ – come now. Pilar, are you 12-years old and remember nothing? Please tell me all of the Bush Administration people that are in jail…
4. ‘Obscene raping of the military’ – huh?
5. ‘Cheney’s Halliburton’ – do you know that the Clinton Administration did a lot of business with Halliburton? Do you know that Halliburton gets a lot of its work, and has for 20-years, on a no-bid basis, because no other company is big enough to do the work that Halliburton can and does do?
6. Please tell me what you know of “Keating” because it, apparently, is quite little. Please tell me what you think McCain did with Keating…
7. ‘In bed with corporate America’ – as in Biden writing a bill that directly benefitted the credit-card companies that everyone hates. What has McCain done that puts him ‘in bed with corporate America?’
Apparently, you prefer a POTUS that is in bed with, and does business deals with convicted FELONS – Rezco. Or in bed with RACISTS – Pastor Wright. Or in bed with TERRORISTS that blow up American buildings, Ayers.
You use broad thoughts hoping that noone will ask you to explain. You got busted.
Pilar, can’t wait to see your reply.
Pilar, did you think at all before you posted?
Pilar, I’d suggest that you think a little more on the next one!
Comment by tiger woods | August 28, 2008
Looks like Pilar is a member in good standing of the DNC Spin Machine—she hit every talking point perfectly!
Well done Pilar, Howard Dean has your gold star waiting for you.
Comment by qcexaminer | August 28, 2008
I’ll be interested in seeing if Pilar responds. I appreciate the spin and talking points, but my goodness, how about using a little of one’s own God-given ability to think?
I appreciate having shared opinion – and it is easy to mimick what one hears the talking-heads say, but, again, doesn’t one have to filter it through their own brain, just a little?
I do not mean to make sport of you Pilar, just saying that a little personal thought is always needed, otherwise, you are no smarter than the last TV-News show you just watched.

regarding one of the points – the republicans are fear mongerers. one good example: the terror alert system had its status changed something like 5 times in the months leading up to the election. since then? hasn’t moved at all… seems kind of odd to me. especially since gwb’s numbers went up after every changing of the status. just an example. republicans always try to scare the public into thinking that democrats will get them killed. its a rove thing
Comment by Robbie | August 28, 2008
It scares me that you deluded fools think McCain has a chance to become POTUS.
Comment by the oracle | August 28, 2008
Who is Stanley Kurtz and why did Obama try to shut him up last night? Can we look forward to more of the same for anyone that dares to speak out? I think it’s amazing that someone who has never run any business has all the answers for all the problems for America. None of you would put this man in charge of your business with his lack of experience yet many are just
trembling with excitement over hope and change. Neither of which mean the same thing to 2 different people and scares the hell out of me because of his past associations.
Comment by Tspud1 | August 28, 2008
Oracle,
The only thing that the Left has to say about McCain is –
1. Old
2. More of the same
As to Obama –
1. Lack of Experience,
2. Ayers
3. Pastor Wright
4. Rezco
5. Against the Surge
6. Lack of Experience
Plus the polls are extremely tight, in a race that should be a 12+% lead.
I’d suggest that there are plently of reasons for the Right to be optimistic, thank you.
Comment by tiger woods | August 28, 2008
What was the name of the business Mccain ran Spuds? And why does more of the same Bush crap excite you and that other bozo, Tiger, so damn much?
Comment by the oracle | August 28, 2008
I will speak for myself, only. I am not thrilled with McCain on some levels, but at the same time, there is a lot that I do like about him.
1. He will be strong on National Security,
2. He will be a strong leader,
3. He has a history of anti-government/ lower spending,
4. He appreciates that a baby is a human being,
5. He understands that I can spend the money that I earn better than Phil Hare can,
And, as importantly, I appreciate that Obama,
1. Sees Iran as little more than “a tiny country”
2. Wants to gut the military,
3. Will tax small businesses and cost the economy jobs,
4. Will tax success,
5. Will create National Healthcare – when government healthcare has got Mass. and Calif. closing in on bankruptcy,
There are more, but why bore you?
You asked, I replied. Thanks!
Comment by tiger woods | August 28, 2008
I have to ask you, Oracle – what excites you so much about Obama?
I am watching his speech as I type. He stands before the Country and rattles off all the problems of the Country – and blames it all on (Washington, but primarily on) Bush.
Last I checked, Obama was still a senator, no?
Where are his bills to address all the ills of the Country?
Where are his bills to address the mortgage crisis?
Where are his bills to address rising fuel costs?
Where are his bills to address education?
Where are his bills to address healthcare?
Where are his bills to address (fill in the blank)?
If indeed, things are as bad as he says, where has he been for the last 4-years? Why hasn’t he attempted a fix to any of the issues that he stumps about?
Obama is a good speech, but little else. I would think that you are smart enough to see through this clown.
“““““““““““““““““““`
BTW, he is blowing it in this speech.
He cannot beat up McCain and win.
He is doing terrible in the polls because,
1. He is short on specifics of HIS plans,
2. They see a lack of experience.
He is not addressing these issues in this speech.
He got where he is at – by being “CHANGE” and “not your standard political guy” – and being negative towards McCain and Bush and being short on specifics is EXACTLY AGAINST everything that got him where he is at.
Terrible speech, at least the first half. Terrible!
Comment by tiger woods | August 28, 2008
As I have posted before, I am not voting for McCain. You just can’t get over the fact that Bush is not running. Biden hasn’t done shit either. There are a lot of things that excite me about Obama but most are like the excitement of watching your house burn down. As a business man I WILL pass on the extra taxes on payroll, medical, social security, energy & other costs in the form of higher prices on my products. Won’t it be wonderful! More ILLEGALS coming and sucking us dry. Won’t it be great! I HOPE I get to keep my Social Security but for some reason I fear it will be cut and my retirement date pushed back. Now that I am getting close I am so thrilled to see a President that wants CHANGE, not. Oracle, just what is that Global Poverty Act that Obama is sponsor of?
Comment by Tspud | August 28, 2008
Beating up Bush will win the election. And I don’t know your business Spuds, but Obama said he would lower taxes for small business and give tax breaks to business’ that create jobs that stay here in America.
And where did Obama say he would “gut the military” Tiger? Is this your new strategy pal? Just increase the number of lies you write and hope you get away with some of them. One day you, aron Schock and multitudes of other deluded right wing fools will learn; YOU MOST CERTAINLY CANNOT FOOL THE ORACLE!
Comment by the oracle | August 28, 2008
The second half of the speech was better. But I believe that the theatrics of the stadium and his presentation/ delivery was far better than the substance of the speech.
I had to chuckle at his laundry list of things that he is going to do.
- No Middle east oil in 10-years, sure!
- Not only is he going to run the Country, but he is going to retool the auto companies! Ha!
Comment by tiger woods | August 28, 2008
Obama will support businesses that provide and create American jobs. Why are you against that Tiger? Are you just a lackey and schill for that idiot president of the US Chamber of Commerce that said “Outsourcing of jobs id good for America”?
Comment by the oracle | August 29, 2008
Oracle, there is nothing to tell you that Obama would “support businesses that provide and create American jobs” – other than his empty words.
He is against cutting corporate taxes – which are the highest in the world, and,
He is for higher income taxes on the middle class, upper middle class and the wealthy – these are the people that own small businesses and hire most American workers.
What about comments #12, 13 and 14 – Oracle. You asked a question, it was answered – pretty good answer, right?
After reading this, I expect that you are jumping on the McCain bandwagon now that you have been informed?
Comment by tiger woods | August 29, 2008
Here is the race in a nutshell as far as I am concerned, Obama is not only untested, he is unknown.
His history is voting ‘PRESENT.’
He has an undistinguished State career.
He has an undistinguished US Senate career.
He needs seasoning. To allow someone that has no history, no experience to become the leader of the most powerful country in the world is silly.
He needs to go back to the Senate, he needs to sponsor bills, be active in areas that he cares about, he needs to build a resume of DOING, rather than SAYING. In 4, 8, 12 or 16 years, he’ll still be a young man (as POTUS’s go) and we’ll be able to judge based on actual history.
Comment by tiger woods | August 29, 2008
What were you listening to last night Tiger? Obama will CUT taxes for 95 million Americans. If you like 9 trillion dollar deficits and want them to get even larger, if you like companies that ship jobs overseas and want them to get tax breaks, if you want to keep spending 10 billion a month in Iraq even though they want us to leave, if you want to Bin laden to remain free, if you want to continue to buy into the right wing lie that they will actually do something prevent abortion, then I most certainly understand why you like McCain.
Comment by the oracle | August 29, 2008
Yea, Oracle, like I believe what Obama SAYS! Not!
I believe that someone’s HISTORY and ACTIONS trump empty words.
And by the way, you need to pay attention, he said said 95% of working families, which is even more unbelievable. Cut the taxes of 95%, pay for college, pay for healthcare, increase spending in uncountable ways – you gotta be a freaking idiot to believe his words!
Comment by tiger woods | August 29, 2008
How do you cut taxes for people that don’t pay taxes?
