My New Best Friend
Petey is my kinda guy:
“Personally, I would love to see two libtards around me get unseated. First off, the Congressman from the 17th district, which I live in, Phil Hare. I really hate him with a passion.”
I think I”m in love!

QCE Baby: you’re in love with a fellow poor deluded right wing fool. Please explain why it is that very time one of your ilk talks about Bush, you always have the caveat “he’s done some things I disagree with, but…” The man is an idiot. He is the worst President ever. If shit were brains this clown would be a genious. And you are in love with a guy because he admires Bush for being steadfast. Wrong is wrong. When you are wrong you make it right. Not “stay the course.” But if you and Petey decide to get married, make sure a few Saudi Clown Princes are there so Bush can have another dance with them.

Oracle-one name for you: Jimmy Carter.
Comment by Petey | May 15, 2008
Herein lies the problem with blogging - anyone can blog and comment on things that they (1) know nothing about and (2) do not have to back up.
I went through this “Bush is an idiot” issue with Oracle on his Blog. I asked him to provide specifics as to why “Bush is an idiot.”
He came up with, (1) Bush danced with the Saudi’s, and (2) little else. Now he disagrees with the effort in Iraq and his disagreement leads him (a nobody from Quincy) to call the “Leader of the Free World” an idiot?
Whether one agrees or disagrees with the effort in Iraq, it is clear that, (1) Democracy in Iraq is beneficial to the Middle East, (2) A stable Middle East is good for the US, (3) if we fail in Iraq, Iran will have substantial power in Iraq (they are already working towards this end), (4) no one, no one, absolutely no one wants to see Iran gaining power in the Middle East.
Oracle, you are proving yourself to be as useless as TID if all you do is throw around lefty-propoganda and never back it up with an intelligent thought.
I am happy to give you another opportunity to provide a rational explanation to your thought of why “Bush is an idiot”.
(also, I’d love to see you comment on the Durbin post).

O, you are wrong on two counts:
1. Petey is young enough to be my son, so my affection for him is not the “dancing clowns” variety, but the warm and fuzzy maternal kind.
2. This warm and fuzzy feeling is not “because he admires Bush for being steadfast” as you claim, but because he hates Hare, which any rational person would and should do.
Comment by qcexaminer | May 16, 2008
Tiger, I gotta say it again—you’re taking O way too seriously—just go with the flow and have fun with it.
Comment by qcexaminer | May 16, 2008
while i’m here, thought i would add a jab on this one…
Mowen, you complain that the oracle doesn’t back up his bush is an idiot mantra. i recall a conversation of our a few months ago about bush that went like this:
me: i think bush is an idiot and one of the worst presidents ever.
mowen: you cant say that unless you back it up with annotated encyclopedic references!
me: here are 10 reasons i think bush is dumb…
mowen: those reasons are all wrong because i said so…
me: can’t you actually provide any counter arguments?!?!?!
mowen: well… ummm… jimmy carter was the worst president ever and he was a democrat!!! and ronald reagan was the bestest ever and he was a republican!!!! nanny-nanny boo-boo!!!!
Comment by Robbie | May 16, 2008
THE ORACLE has given numerous examples of Bush idiocy. That Tiger refuses to read and comprehend is not my problem.
QCE: that’s a new one to me. Petey loves Bush because he hates Hare? You’re the hoot baby!
Comment by the oracle | May 16, 2008
qce, I have to respectfully disagree. Oracle amy attempt to take the lighter side, but only because he has nothing of legitimate value to add to the dialogue.
I cannot sit back and ‘have fun’ with someone perpetuating liberal foolishness by calling the POTUS “an idiot.” If Oracle showed a degree of humor, a degree of introspective whimsy, a degree of original perspective - ok, I can see humor in this.
And maybe you are right. I was led to believe that Blogs were reasonable and educational. To date, I have seen little more than unsubstantiated left-wing propoganda - and little rational dialogue.
I just do not see how a comment like “Bush is an idiot” can go unanswered.
I do not see how or why a liberal cannot stand up and say (either), ‘Yes, Durbin is a joke’ or defend why is is good…it’s called reasonable and rational dialogue.
I guess I expect too much from people.
Comment by tiger woods | May 16, 2008
Yes you have Oracle - “he danced with the Saudi’s and thus gas prices went up.”
“His VP is Cheney” - that’s a good one.
“Katrina/ N.O. proves Bush is an idiot”
I am sorry Oracle - what got into me?! These are great examples of why a 3rd-shift Quincy Wal-Mart employee is calling the ‘Leader of the Free World’ - “an idiot.”
Comment by tiger woods | May 16, 2008
Your magical powers seem to be on the fritz O—maybe it’s time for that millennial check up on all your oracle parts.
I have no idea where you got “Petey loves Bush because he hates Hare”, but I assume it has to do with your ancient and magical reading comprehension parts in need of lube job.
Here’s my thing: QCE <3 Petey because he hates Hare.
Explain (if possible) how you arrived at “Petey loves Bush because he hates Hare”.
Comment by qcexaminer | May 16, 2008
O I just love it when I get to stir up the pot. Directly or indirectly.
1. I NEVER said I love Bush. I respect the man and feel confident that I know where he stands.
2. My hatred or Hare(brained) has nothing to do with Bush. It has to do with Hare-his positions, voting, and the way he ended up being the nominee in ‘06. Lane Evans screwed the Democrats in the 17th.
3. Bush is not an idiot. He is a very intelligent man, who is a less than eloquent public speaker.
Tiger Woods-The thing I have learned is that trying to get a reasoned answer form the left is like herding cats. Their “reason” is actually an emotional response. Eventually, you just have to let it roll of your back.
Comment by Petey | May 16, 2008
#3 is very accurate. Bush is very intelligent, very principled - but just a less than dynamic public speaker. Having done a bit of public speaking myself,I am not going to throw stones at anyone on this issue - it is difficult.
I certainly do not lie away at nights worrying about the stupidity of the left, however, pushing them to TRY to think through an issue, pushing them to TRY to defend their foolish comments is, well, necessary. The left has been allowed to say any stupid thing that they want.
Of course, one is likely not going to have much impact on TID, or Oracle or some of the more vocal distributors of foolishness, but pushing them may, (1) keep them on notice that that they will be held accountable for foolish comments and (2) will allow the (possibly unknowing) people who read the foolish comments to learn that indeed the comments are foolish.
Petey, I like your action…
Comment by tiger woods | May 16, 2008
You poor deluded right wing fools. You dare question the WISDOM of THE ORACLE, and it is your hero, the idiot George Bush, that “borrowed” THE ORACLE’S catch phrase in his ridiculous speach in Israel. I have to give your hero some credit. He knew that he and his pathetic speech writers were far to stupid to come up with anything smart or original. They obviously poured over the blogs and discovered “deluded” and “foolish” on THE ORACLE SPEAKS.
Look it up Tiger. All your questions have been covered in all the previous SPEAKS. Perhaps you are either lazy, or just frightened that your deluded views will be exposed for the foolishness that they are.
I don’t have any respect for the way Phil hare got the Dems nod without going through a real primary. But he pisses you deluded Republican fools off. That’s a good thing…
Comment by the oracle | May 16, 2008
1. I have better things to do than go through months of your ramblings to find an answer to a simple question that you refuse to answer in a reasonable manner. I do not believe that I would find one of your posts that give a serious or credible response.
2. I really do not care about Phil Hare. He is no better, no worse, than Lane Evans. If you lib’s want to keep people in office that do you (or anyone else) no good - wonderful for you. Just shows what weak little shepp you libs really are.
Comment by tiger woods | May 16, 2008
I could say the same thing about the dunce you and your Republican cronies elected President. Other than showing us a new way to pronounce “new cuh luhr” what good has he done? Oh yeah. His idiocy is good fodder for bloggers not blinded by right wing ideology.
Now back to your well deserved nap. Your poor Republican fingers must be tired from all this menial typing you’ve been doing trying to justify your deludedness.
Comment by the oracle | May 16, 2008
Oracle, every time you comment, you prove my point.
1. Namecalling,
2. No facts whatsoever,
3. Judgementalism and nothing constructive.
Thank you!

At least President Bush graduate from college. Hare is the ony Congressman in America with out a college education. No wonder Phat Hare is so self serving.
Comment by TonyScorn | May 16, 2008
Phil Hare is a giant windsock that likes to hear himself say he is working for this and that and does nothing but do what the unions tell him to do. The problem with that strategy is that the big unions are leaving the area. Deere reported today that they are shutting down Dubuque. UAW members on the first tier are generally republicans as they make over one hundred thousand dollars a year and don’t like paying high taxes either. Second tier UAW members are more of your typical democrat.
Hare catering to the unions at every turn will cost him in the next election when a more mainstream democrat will take this bloated blowhard out.
Comment by Sid | May 17, 2008
Tiger - you had no qualms about calling Durbin an embarrassment, but the first person to insult Bush you get up in arms. In another post you asked for a response to an anti-Durbin rant- I was not sure how to accomplish that since you didn’t even mention one item that proves Durbin to be an “embarrassment”. I really have no interest in defending Durbin your logic is what confused me. You called out O for devaluing the conversation – if you don’t mention specifics there is nothing left but name-calling and labeling.
Comment by Rob Mellon | May 17, 2008
Rob,
Do I really need to be specific on the Durbin issue?
Really, do I?
His anti-American (Nazi) comments?
His comments against the troops?
Do you really need me to be specific, do ya Rob?
You compare this to some 3rd shift clock-puncher calling the ‘Leader of the Free World’ an “Idiot” - and my asking him to explain?
(Which, of course, he never has - other than to say that ‘Bush danced with the Saudi’s’ or something about katrina…
Come on Rob, you think that anyone needs specifics about the foolishness of Durbin?
Comment by tiger woods | May 17, 2008
Both Durbin and Hare are buffoons. Their disrespect for our troops is disgusting. Hare bragging in the paper about cutting funds to the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan is appalling. You can sure tell that the selected one Hare has never been in harms way. To cut the funds and put our men and women in a position of weakness is pathetic. We need to get a Republican party with some backbone around here. To not even field a candidate against this guy is unacceptable. We talk about the democrats being stagnate around here but we need to take a deep look into the mirror and see that doing the same thing over and over and getting the same results is lunacy but to do nothing is even worse. We need new leadership in the republican party of the 17th district.
Comment by Sid | May 17, 2008
Why would anyone deny “our best and brightest” the ammunition and weapons they need to win the war? Doesn’t Hare want America to defeat Iraq? Who is Hair for?
I agree with Sid and Tiger Woods, “Hare is out of the mainstream and needs to be RECALLED.”
Comment by TonyScorn | May 18, 2008
Sid-As a I was researching candidates prior to the IL primary in Feb. I was appalled when I found out there was no Republican running. I have talked to my State Rep about the lack of a candidate in the 17th District to run against Hare. He assured me there will be a candidate in November. As I have said at my blog more than once (and left in the comments here) I have considered running for Congress against Hare simply because I dislike him so much.
The first time I brought this up was in November ‘06, the day Hare was elected. I told a friend of mine in a conversation about the election that day that I was considering running in ‘08.
The entire Spring I have been have a debate with myself about running. One day I tell myself this isn’t the time to run, the next I say I am calling the Republican Party.
Granted, I probably wouldn’t have a chance as a relative unknown, but it could be a positioning for 2010.
Write in Petey for 17th District U.S. Congress in 2008.
Comment by Petey | May 19, 2008
Petey,
The problems are -
1. The entire District, other than maybe three counties, have a Republican County Party of any consequence.
2. A majority of Republicans in the District feel as though it is a lost cause, thus sit on the sidelines. This is a shame as their lack of hope came because a couple of newscasters could not get the job done (nothing against Baker or Zinga, but I have never understood how reading a teleprompter got so many people excited!).
3. The Republican Party as a whole is a mess and is going to get whacked in November,
4. The District will likely be morphed into another District after the 2010 elections, even Hare likely will be out after 2010.
In my opinion, the best way for a Republican to gain this seat would be for an existing Mayor, someone with name recognition and a quantifiable political past to run. This might get the Republican base (and those many closet republicans) fired up enough to get excited and involved.
Just my thoughts…
Comment by Jim Mowen | May 19, 2008
Methinks a middle of the road, battle-tested candidate would knock off Hare in a Democrat primary.
Comment by TonyScorn | May 19, 2008
Petey, do you have a website for Petey For Congress?
As it stands now, obviously I won’t be voting for Hare, but I will probably vote for either the Green Party guy, Troy Dennis or write in Rob Mellon.
I could just as well vote for you except I don’t know your last name or what you stand for.
Give me a link to the PETEY FOR CONGRESSMAN website and I’ll put it on my blogroll and we’ll see what happens.
