Well That Didn’t Take Long
Last night John McCain won enough delegates to lock up the GOP nomination and not wanting to waste a minute on civility, the Democrat Attack Machine launched the first McCain smear 501(c)(4) ad of the year.
In case you haven’t heard, the 501(c)(4) ads are this years 527s. As before, these ads are supposed to be done by “party neutral” advocacy groups. This particular “party neutral” group is funded and headed by Clinton pal John Podesta, liberal moneybags George Soros, (who spent something like 23 mil in 527 ads in ‘04 in an attempt to defeat George Bush) and the Hollywood crowd. No party affiliation amongst ‘em, just a bunch of “concerned citizens”.
Go to the link to see the ad. It looks like the major theme for the Dems will be McCain = Bush and his election will be the third term of the Bush Administration. Of course, this “third term of the Bush Administration” canard has already been repeated over and over by the Dems and their shills, so this isn’t exactly original or new.
Of course, anyone who actually knows anything about Bush and McCain knows this characterization is totally bogus, but count on the lockstepping Dems to parrot this falsehood over and over until the weak minded are convinced.
The one good thing about the long and vicious internecine warfare the Democrats are now waging is they’ll do the dirty work on each other and save the GOP 501(c)(4)s some money—and clean hands!
Not a huge surprise there. I do not know if he will, but if McCain holds true to his speech he claims he does not want attack ads run for him.

It seems like foolishness to try to link McCain with Bush. The goofy left will buy it, but the middle (those that will determine the next POTUS), will see through this because it is so wrong.
Bush & McCain have never gotten along because McCain has never gone along with Bush - and this is easy for McCain to prove.

I can’t find it now, but somewhere I read that if Bush and McCain are policy soul-mates it is because Bush has moved toward McCain’s more centrist thinking, not the other way around.

Scoundrel, the thing about the 527s, 501(c)(4)s, etc. is that SUPPOSEDLY they do not coordinate with the candidates.
Yeah, I’m skeptical too, but I think in the ‘04 campaign, some left/liberal/Dem 527s actually worked against Kerry—or at least the MESSAGE Kerry was promoting!
Although I don’t really remember any Kerry message except “I’m not Bush”.
