Quote Of The Day
Sensible comments from the normally nutty Alan Keyes, in response to a question about his position on global warming at the December 12 “debate”:
I’m in favor of reducing global warming, because I think the most important emission we need to control is the hot air emission of politicians who pretend one thing and don’t deliver.
It made no sense to have Keyes at that debate. He has not been in any other previous major debate. Still he was refreshing in his approach towards the moderator who seemed hostile or maybe just clueless towards conservative issues. That is the second time that I have witnessed the Republicans walk into a hostile environment during the debates.

These “debates” are no longer useful, if they ever were.
I do hope in 2012 journalists will be eliminated from these events. These “debates” have become forums for journalists to push agendas and showcase themselves, not the candidates. Getting actual information from the candidates is not even considered.
The best idea I ever saw about how to revamp the “debates” came from a blogger (Stephen Green/Vodkapundit, I think) who thought the best way to run them would be to stock an open bar and have two or three candidates sit around a table and just TALK, with no interference from the press.
Anything would be better than the idiocy we have now.

That is probably as good of an idea as any. You get them soused enough and they might actually speak what is on their minds instead of party rhetoric.
