King Of The World

If you want to get an idea of what an economic powerhouse our country is, check out this map where the states are renamed for countries with similar GDPs (gross domestic product). GDPs are a way of measuring and comparing the size of national economies.

#1 is California, of course. It’s GDP is similar to France’s. Shockingly, (at least to me) Illinois is #4 with a 741 billion GDP which is similar to Mexico’s. Iowa is #28 (Venezuela) and Wyoming brings up the rear—-more cows than people, I guess.

It is truly extraordinary to look at this map and realize that each state in the union has an economy equal to the economy of an entire nation.

  1. Very interesting map to look at. This really drives home the point of what an amazing economic powerhouse the U.S. economy really is.

  2. I saw those comparisons. I have visited that site before it often piques my curiosity.
